Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
LOL......well....not exactly. I'm chasing a few inches of vacuum that was lost when changed to efi. Had 15-17" now have 10-12". At the current level my power brakes don't want to work...even with the vacuum storage canister. Went thru the injectors yesterday...but they seem OK. Took extra intake I have and mounted the injectors/fuel rail to it/hooked it up to the fuel pump and then lit up one injector at a time and they all shot good streams 3' in the air. Also still have the vibration I've been fighting since busting that u-joint a while back and getting a longer d-shaft made.
Working on ordering a new set of wheels/tires. Just haven't decided for sure (16/17,17/18,18/19)...just know in my head I want 28" tire up front and 29" or so in the back. Oh....and re-upped my Goodguys membership, bought a GG's - Lone Star 2013 shirt, and plan to enter the early spring event so I can autocross it...so I do need to get the bugs out. New trans shifts great tho! ![]()

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Interesting. I wonder what could cause the vaccum drop. On the wheels i would go 18/19 combo. I will be at that goodguys but prob only sat or sunday. we are going to swing by after a trip to colorado.
I just placed a order for my new fuel pump and fittings at summit. Got a walbro 392. Max psi of 60 and 255 lph. I cant deside if i want to just buy a intake with rails, injectors, throttle body or buy a hole motor with swap harness and ecm. I have a intake now but it has been sitting the hole time i have had my 6.0 so not sure how good the injectors are any more. It also needs a throttle body.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Based on my last 5yrs playing with "toys" and upgrading this, that and the other....
my main gripe has been that I didn't hold on to the old parts. Instead I sold them to fund this or that. Made me remember why I had gotten that "pack rat" instinct from my grandfather. Turn loose of it and you may find you need it (or another like it) later in life. Our next house (working to remodel now, sell, move by summer) will have a few acres with room for my shop and be our last habitat...so my kids are likely to wind up with a bunch of junk! ![]() I'd reuse what you got, and add to it as needed. The rails and injectors can be cleaned.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I may have them cleaned. Still need a new map, throttle body, mass air flow, intake pipes, all sensors on throttle body. I am going to contact a few places and see if i can get the top of a ls motor with all that for cheap.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Heck if you really wanted to make some power...you could get some big breathing genIV heads, intake, and TB....that is as long as you could keep your current harness/pcm.
*edit- in fact I have a spare genIV intake...its bare tho.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I would like more power but i dont want to sacrifice any low end power and have to change converter and gears again. I hope i gain low end with this swap. At least low end driveability should be better i hope. After i get the wifes truck done i may start building a stouter motor. prob a stroker like 408 or 421. That should for sure help low end.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Yes it should. My setup has all kinds of power before 3500rpm...but enough for something that weighs nearly twice as much... I can't say.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well my harness and ecm came in today. But it has changed my plans. It is set up for a car intake. It will make problems on my burb as in having to change injectors or injector plugs, exteneding a few wires and such. But i think it will help a few issues for the wifes truck. As in hers will need much bigger injectors and possibly needing fuel rail mods to fit injectors in truck rails. so i will put a car type intake on wifes truck and take wifes intake and maf sensor and put it on the burb. But that brings me to how to get a harness for the burb. The wifes truck came with a factory one so i can have it reworked or just get a new one. I priced a rework and ecm flash and it was like 500 bucks and 4-6 weeks wait time. So for a few hundred more i can maybe buy a already worked one or a new one.

I got my hose and fittings from summit today. I ordered ptfe -6 hose and regular fittings. Long story short i have to send my ptfe hose back. So i put in a order for the correct hose and a 8k ppm speed adapter.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Got the rest of my stuff in today. I got the correct fuel hose and speedo thing and cold air intake. More like just intake pipe. Does not work of any kinda cold air for me. I will get a better set up later on. Prob a build it your self type where you just order pipes and couplers. But i am happy for what i paid. The filter is really nice and big. Had to move my coolant tank. No big deal. flip it around and it fit like a glove. just had to drill 3 holes in my inner fender.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Got my throttle cable on. I used a stock 01 silverado throttle cable for the throttle body. Still need the bracket on the intake the cable clips into but it will work for now. Other then sanding down the plastic where it clips into the fire wall it is a strait forward deal. Just need fuel lines and harness installe then it will be ready to run. Should have my throttle valve cable for trans next week.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
So i almost had a great day. I tryed to install my harness i just got. Brand new harness. The o2 sensor plugs are not correct for my o2 sensors. My maf sensor harness is on the wrong side of the motor and too short to connect to maf even if it was on the passenger side. The harness for the maf only goes about 3 inches past the alt. map sensor plug is not correct. Harness connectors are all labled incorrect. I called and pm'ed the seller with no answer. I called and asked him when i bought it if it will plug into all my factory sensors and he said yes. Clearly not the case so far. I am so upset i guess it is a good thing he did not answer.

maibe the sensor doesnt pick up all the pulses maibe you need to get it closer to the eeeh thoothed wheel that gives the signal

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Woohoo. Got a hold of a snap on solus scanner and ran the crank learn thing. Boy that is a fun test. You have to rev up tell fuel cut out it says. Well first try I bounced it off of rev limiter for a few seconds. Then the second time it went to 4000 then cut out and went to limiter again. And passed. So no more check engine light.
