Re: GM Semis
Not only way less than today, but stable for decades rather than up a lot or down a little on a whim. Remember when gas went up to about $4 the last time because the world supply was running out? I guess they found more on Mars. I'll never complain about the price drop, just hate being given lame made up excuses for doing something just because you can. Didn't help that it was in the middle of a huge recession either

Re: GM Semis
I'd arm wrassle you for it but you're the pronounced GMC 9500 Fan according to your signature. so I'd have to respectfully step aside and keep looking for the next great one. oh dang...That's right...nobody said it was for sale! Everything I see in that picture is a treasure.

Re: GM Semis
Tim,
Did you check out the one I looked at in Salem, VA? Re: Anybody want a 72 GMC 9500? http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=648506 That's the closest I've ever been to buying one, but it sure did go out of my price range pretty quick. Really enjoyed checking it over and hearing it run though. (Although I was 2nd in line to Bill) (63 & 64 Bowties). Bill

I just came close to you last week on my way to Marietta,GA. I bought a surplus '95 K2500 Suburban from Cobb County w/120k on it. It was the Sheriff dept's K-9 unit. The fella told me it was used for Bloodhounds,so mostly sat. It got used a lot last winter to rescue stranded people out of the rare snows they got. They went out and put chunky off road tires on it you wouldn't expect to see on a gov't vehicle. I never put the Georgia & Bloodhound together and get an extra kick out of knowing that. Truly a southern truck! Sexy is right! both of these last two trucks are sexy in their own way. They'd make the perfect pair for any gentleman's collection. One fine example of a dressy OTR rig and one fine example of local municipal work horse. Maryland State Roads has a tandem lowboy heavy equipment hauler in Chrome Yellow (at least 1) I see once in a blue moon. It's the flagship of the fleet IMO. They keep those (it) longer since they get less use. I think the last one was an LTL9000, but I think I saw they replaced it with a Mack.

Re: GM Semis
Real nice truck.
Another one with a Chrome package. Looks like an early Model. I would guess '66. Notice the optional Triple Horns it has. Bill

Re: GM Semis
thats one thing i liked in the states in general . youre trafficlights are across the street , realy liked that even with a low sun you can still see them without looking intoo the bright sky
our are about above the stoppingline and you have to stoop down to look up under the edge of the window or look up trough the open top to see it if youre the first in line that truck would have a hard time seeing the trafficlights here

Re: GM Semis
Has any one ever seen a bus like this? 1997 Champion with a Chevy chassis. It has a Caterpillar 316 190 hp as best I can tell. The guy that owns it cut the rear part off and hauled watermelons on it! I am thinking to buy it and make some kind of ratrod out of it. $1200 dollars is not bad considering in runs fine. Down side is automatic transmission. Think it is worth the price?
Sorry about the low quality pictures best I can do. I have only talked to them. I apologize for the off topic post but had no idea where to post it to get a informed answer. Jerry |

Re: GM Semis
I've never seen one like it. I personally wouldn't like the Auto Trans either, but if the Engine runs good, that's not a bad price.

Re: GM Semis
Flyboy... Verify the Allison on that watermelon hauler . If it the medium duty MT 643, it's bulletproof. If it's the smallest AT 545. they've gotten cheap for used units........should be able to get one for 250-300 bucks .
Cheap truck at that price ! |
