Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Got some new color on my 65 this week and weekend. I was tired of it being so many different colors. Still has plenty of work yet to do on it but I can at least start to see some progress.

I am by no means a painter and this is not a show truck but rather a driver that I can get out there and have fun with. I am happy with the direction it is going now. Was thinking about a Faux-Tina paint job to start with but nothing overdone.

I had Mr. Miyagi standing over my shoulder telling me "wax on, wax off" as I wet sanded, polished with Meguire's #7 and waxed the passenger side of my truck. It looked about like the attached pictuer of the drivers side when I started. Now I need to go get some more 3000 grit to continue. It shines a little now.

No leg pullin', I'll do the other side in the next couple of days. Right now I'm being lazy and don't want to go get any more 3000.

I'm with Pimpston. If that's for real.... that's.... that's..... incredible! Very hard to believe that rust could polish back to blue paint. Would love to know more about what's going on here. Is that original paint?

I ordered wheels and tires today, Boss 338 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear with Nitto 555 255/45 and 295/45, couldn't pass on the free shipping on both orders!

I drove to San Jose (50 miles each way) and calibrated my speedo at the same time. At 70 MPH I tach 2000 and at 80 I tach 2250 rpm.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Well I spent a couple of hours stripping the paint of my front grill, only to find a pretty good ally one under all that paint . I will have to dress up a couple of the dents that have just been filled instead of being repaired

As my grill was

After 2 hours of stripping the paint off

Will try and spend another couple of hours on it tomorrow

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Well, i pulled the trigger and installed Vintage Air on my 65. Here are the only pictures i have for now. Those kits are a breeze to put in, but of coarse there was unexpected expenses but thats part of the territory when working on old trucks. I live in Arizona and it has been the best investment i have ever made!

One side almost done. Im not liking how the new rubber brake line is running against the upper control arm. Don't see any way around it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Work has been very busy still but I decided I just need to get work done on my Jimmy. So Tues thru today I spent at least an hour working on it. The fiberglass work is done, the seat and in cab tank are out. Pulled the front wheels and prepped the wheelwells for undercoating. The hood is off and treated with Jasco and its ready for undercoat just like the roof and cab interior. I just need to mask off everything shoot it wait a couple days then paint over it in black. By Friday all of that will be done [next Friday] and then the remainder of the blocking the outside for pearls and candy.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

modified my fleetside racks to fit the stepside... apparently the stake pockets are in different spots, so I flipped them over and carved some new sticks for the pockets.. now I just flip them over: 1 side fleet, 1 side step....
gonna get a big load of brush in it now...

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

got an antique 1965 plate and get it registered to the truck after sending it away to DMV about a month ago it finally showed up in the mail so I installed the lighted bracket and the new plate. The bracket stiffens the rear bumper even more than it was which is pretty cool too.
