Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Ryan, I think you'll like the hydroboost. I have it on my 01 hd and its hard to tell if the trailer brakes are working
Keep up the good work, Jud

Motor mounts are a blast to build that clear everything on these trucks, huh?! Don't ya think you might be able to get a custom hardline built to get around it all? |

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
That's no joke. I'll look for a pic and if I don't have one I'll take one in the morning. I might be able to build a hard line, but it's going to be real tight. We'll see.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Custom power steering hoses are ridiculously expensive, tried that on the Corvette.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
i cant tell for sure in your pic, but there may be room for a metric 0-ring to JIC #6 (AN6) adapter and a block 90* i did that on my jeep. then you can use standard hydralic pressure hose and fittings. you need two 16m and one 14m to convert the hydraboost and the steering pump. then another 16m for the box if it isnt a std. flare type. if i remember correctly. in doing the jeep including the hose and fittings for the Howe assist ram and box i think i may have spent 90$ on hydraulic hose and another 20-30$ on fittings. the adapters are 10ish bones apeice. pretty cheap for super stout and easy to make hoses.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Here you go.
12v manifold 24v manifold You can either run the turbo down low and the manifold dumps at 4 and 5 or flip it over and the turbo will be up top. You will have to source or build a spacer to get the turbo off the valve covers. Let me know if you need one, I have 2 of each.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
No more progress. I did get some fittings and wouldn't you know it, I can't get one in there either. I have a steel line I'm going to try to fit in there with some mods to the engine mount bracket. It's always got to be some thing!

Thanks for that link Tim! I doubt I'll do it to this truck though.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I've never cared much for the forward tilting hood. Seems like it would just get in the way. I would love to have the whole nose tilt forward. Now that would be handy.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I was thinking the same thing. You'd always be leaning over the fenders and it wouldn't be long before scratches are all over them. I did a tilt front end on my corvette and I love it. But I don't want to mess with all that on this truck seeing how the fenders are already painted.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Nothing more than dust accumulating on it. This morning I replaced the intake manifold gaskets on the 350 for my wife's suburban. I've got so much to do I farmed the engine swap out to my little cousin.

Ryan, have you got some pics of your corvette tilt? If I can figure out a way to do a tilt cleanly, I might attempt it.
