Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
ok, ill stop after these....
picked up the bed off Craigslist for $150.00 picked up the 73 Camaro front clip from Craigslist for $160.00 picked up the wire harness from Craigslist for $120.00 I picked up a LT1 w/ a 700R trans from Craigslist for 600.00 My dad is doing the body work in Laredo, TX. and I am working on the chassis at my house in Houston, TX. This is the first time I take on a project like this, it is exciting but intimidating. If anyone sees anything that i am doing wrong or that i could do different, PLEASE feel free to say something.. I intend to buy a rear end (suggestion??) by next week and decided to go with a CCP leaf spring kit (cheaper) People, i could use some encouragement, keep in mind its only been a month....

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Flew 600 miles to see my truck at the weekend (and to attend a rod run up there). We planned that the final bits on the truck would be done, but it didnt turn out like that, so instead of a road trip to bring it home, I flew home & will fly back up again in a few weeks time, when its all done and legal.
Early on in the build, we decided to replace the in-cab gas tank so we could get the seat back further, but looking at the design of the seat frame, I couldnt figure how we would gain much room at all. I would prefer a bench seat if I could, so from your experiences, is the best option a middle/rear seat from a people carrier? We dont have the same selecton of US vehicles, but our roads are infested with Japanese Vans and people carriers which may be suitable in the truck. Or I could fit up a pair of leather BMW bucket seats, but then I would have to make a console & it may not suit my 60s build style. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I got some of the fuel system plumbing done on my new motor. Mocked up my alternator bracket and ran the oil system for a bit to keep things 'wet'.
Enjoy the pics!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Cleaned and polished up the wheel trim rings, dug out the ac unit to get the hoses done so I can install it. Also finished up a wrought iron bench resto for my wife.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Had to do some mods to the fenders so they'd clear the tires due to the wide rear suspension. Finally got one of the box sides on. I have to widen the box 2 1/2". Installed the steering column (C6 tilt/telescopic/paddles).

did the overhead welding on the risers for my upper coil-over mounts. I also got the upper and lower shock hangers tacked in place.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Went to the ac line place. Came home and rethought what I was trying to do. Came up with a simpler solution after realizing I can just unbolt the inner fender if I ever need to pull the front clip.

Painted my motor mounts and cut the bottom of the door off, by then it was 93 outside. Closed the garage door and made some COLD ice tea.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
After 1.5 years I finally got it started and drove it around the block. Found out I need to raise the bed about an inch to clear the shock mounts and I have to install some spacers on the rear end cause the rear tires are rubbing on the bed sides. Unfortunetly that means I have to get longer wheel studs, that sucks just when I thought I was close to getting to drive it again.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Im cheating. I have a 1950 (It fits the year requirements of the thread) International L110.
I moved the front frame brace back about 8" to shorten the frame horns. Bent some 5/8" bar stock into ring to create a place to pass the frame brace through. |
