Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

When it rains it starts snowing. lol. We had less than a 1/2'' here today. I did get the rear brake lines on except for where the connect onto the wheel cylinders. I have new ones to put on on the 19th when the crew shows up. I did get some of the firewall stuff put back on. The power wire for the dizzy. The wiring for the taillights. I have started cleaning up my oil pressure line. I did put the purple wire onto the starter ''S'' terminal. I think that I have that correct by the wiring diagram I had found. I also ran my speedo cable through but didn't hook it up yet.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I put the vintage air in today. The underdash unit and the lines. I still have the ductwork and wiring to do but I'll wait till the truck is painted for those items. I need to get a 3/4'' to 5/8'' reducer or 90 degree for the connection to the radiator. After that it'll be done for now on the v.a. I will have to replace the a/c compressor belt and get one another inch longer. I do wish that vintage air would make the pressure hoses 3'' longer. Not much maneuverability while adjusting the belt. I couldn't get the hose closest to the motor on the compressor at all without removing the belt.

I got a couple pics of the oil line .

Looks good, are you happy with the vintage air? I have been looking at putting in air but not sure if I should do it now or wait till after I get her running and on the road.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks guys. I got another belt and its about an inch and a half too long. So I'll have to try again. I did find a temp sending unit connector and got that installed. I will put the new fusebox seal on and connect it all back up. I'll be ready for fluids and a battery after that. I still need to find a muffler and a tailpipe for it. I also started cleaning up the steering column. I'll just paint the intermediate shaft and clean the rest. I will use the column temporarily. I don't want to put my rebuilt tilt in till its painted.

sourkraut- I'm pretty happy with it. The lines could be about three inches longer on each for more adjustability. The one seems very short and I have to change belts because of it. Other than that I will still be happy with it. This is my second one to install.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Okay Rus, I remember you telling me about that. Jeff, I appreciate it. Rus has one and thats all I need.

I filled the rear end with oil, added some other fluids. I need to get some more. I opened the bleeders on the front calipers and added fluid to both reservoirs, after a while the fluid started coming out of both and a little plug on the front of the proportioning valve. I marked with an X. This plug is for if you are running two lines for the front. I think I have the leak stopped. I closed off the bleeders too lol. The rears bubbled a lot and I just put some rubber block-offs on the new lines and I'll keep an eye on it. I plugged up the holes for the windshield washer nozzles. I won't be putting that stuff back on.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I haven't put any real hard pressure on the pedal yet. I may see some more leaks pop up when I do. I had to do a search on here to see what that plug was. At first I thought it may be an adjustment screw.

Thanks Matt.
I can get stuff done when I don't work lol. I also got my big apes on one of my old Schwinns. I did get my lower shaft that connects to my steering column cleaned and painted. I'm not going to worry about the rest of the column since it'll be coming out later.

Yea, Chuck you don't need that line on the front. I'm glad you're doing the VA. I'll be bouncing my install off of you when I get to it.

I'll be using the original compressor from the 5.3 so I'm sure that's a whole new wasp's nest.
