I hear you on the electronics. My last build had remote door solenoids (shaved handles) that I tied into the power windows to lower and raise the windows by remote incase of a solenoid failure. I then intergraded interior power window switches as well. All of which were different manufactures. I even had a power cowl went...Crazy. You for get how many relays, power and ground feeds all of that crap requires.

For that reason I went very basic in terms of electronics on the Suburban.

Yeah Marc, you are right. I have Dakota Digital tied into Gallo Tech Starter tied to GM switches like the neutral safety switch, etc. I have a Ford mini relay/fuse box behind the rider's seat and the cruise control brain box, DD night light brain box, Gallo brain box and the DD brain box all under the dash, and I left out Vintage Air and the whole electric fuel pump, fans, trinary switch, etc.

Now that I think about it, chasing gremlins may be more of a challenge than I first thought.

I took the wires back out of the ECU's and made sure they were all connected properly per the wiring diagrams. What I learned was I had one dome light ground in the wrong position on the Dakota Digital ECU, missed it by one connection point. Put it in the right place and tried it all again, and the dome light still would not turn off when the Gallo alarm function was engaged. So, I disconnected the Dakota Digital light controller from the dome light. Now the dome light turns off like it is supposed to.

The Gallo Tech was interfering with the Dakota Digital in the dome light ground.

Now I am testing one more time, but I think I'm ready to finish the dash and move on to final stuff, like putting loom over the wires under the truck and getting the bed and interior done.

I had Lizard Skin sprayed on the inside of the roof, back wall and floor up through the firewall.

Should I put any other product on the roof for heat transfer (can you say Texas sun) or noise?

Same question for the firewall. Same question for the rear wall.

Then on the doors, I have some deadening with foil on one side and a tar like substance on the other. Is that all I should use? Should I put it on the inside the door on outside skin?

Robert, the Lizard Skin should do a good job for the most part with heat and noise. I would add extra thick jute from the firewall to the back of the cab. Then put your carpet over that. You can see how I did mine in the build thread. Main difference, I used the peel and stick absorber and deadener over the lizard skin.

The jute/carpet combo was almost an unreal change in my '49.

The more area you cover with the peel and stick, the better. It will help deflect heat and noise, and does a great job at stopping vibrations.

Did you put it on the underside of the roof?

I have a similar type of product and will be installing it similar to what you did to Francis.

I did put the peel and stick on the underside of the roof, the headliner covered it up nicely.

I ran out so it's not finished. The new batch should be here sometime next week.

In other news, I took the plexiglass side windows to ACME Glass, and they told me that they would make it easier. I hope to have them back maybe today, but probably tomorrow. Then to test fit them again. Once they fit and are installed, I'm going to put the rest of the glass in so the cab will be dry and I can get the exhaust put on it. An old hot rodder I know has a Muffler shop and he is waiting for me to call and tell him I'm bringing it in. He's already got all the parts together.

That should definitely make a difference Robert. That's the same product I used, I've also got it in my Z28.

That looks good Robert..I bet itll make a big difference in noise..
On the IH I did lizard skin on both sides of the floorboard and toe board, as well as the inside kick panels..then jute under the floor mat..I didnt do anything to the rear cab wall..still up in the air on doing the roof..itll have a headliner, so I'll probably do something there to help with heat..no a/c..

The floor inside and on the bottom and the firewall inside and out were Lizard skinned. I'm just trying to give it a chance to be quiet.

Yep..no ac in AL.. I dont mind riding with the windows down..haha
There just isnt enough room under and behind the dash on the IH for it..
I wanted to keep the original look inside the cab and keep the original heater box..
On the travelall , some way or another , itll have ac..maybe front and rear..

Got the rider's side window installed. Fits pretty well. However, when rolling it down, it catches on something on the inside about halfway down. If I push out on the window it goes the rest of the way down. It rolls up pretty well.

Any ideas on what to check? I checked the bolts for length on the window crank and door latch, that doesn't seem to be it.

Look on the window track that holds the glass at the bottom to see where it might be catching on something to help identify the source of resistance.

Side windows are in. I had them make them a little larger and then sanded them down to fit.

I got all the Rattle Trap Xtreme in and some closed cell foam over that on the roof to try and reduce sun generated heat.

Also got the seat in and the Flaming River steering wheel. Now I can pull it around in the shop.
