Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

It used to be once a thing became well known around the world it became "world famous". As per CG's thread on the topsy turvy world, we now call whatever we want world famous in hope that will help it become that. I see world famous products, usually food, that I never heard of all the time. Hooter's claims their wings are world famous. I never knew that. That ain't what I heard they are famous for!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Believe it or not I have never been to a Hooters. But I have heard that the wings are really good. My wife of all people told me so.

I asked her why she went to Hooters and it seems that there was a guy at her work retiring and that's where he wanted his retirement party.

Same here, but even crazier a supervisor on a contract hosted a get together at Tilted Kilt

I had just got off the plane in San Diego after leaving snowy Montana about 12 hours before, and then got picked up and taken to this place to meet the team.

That's just too much shock for an old country boy!

I've been twice. The first time was when my younger son was at Childrens Hospital in DC. We stopped into one to let a little tension off. That's when I read the menu that stated their wings were world famous. They were....... pretty good (aren't they always?)

The second time was when I had to go down into Baltimore by the Inner Harbor to a lawyer's office. Same thing, needed to let a little tension off. I was single by then and don't you know I got well acquainted with my waitress, a fine young belle from Knoxville, TN. My second visit to Hooters was the best

I guess that's one of the advantages of being a city boy. I'm pretty hard to shock. I just roll my eyes. I've seen it all before.

What I didn't do on my truck today? Was to hang my Pabst Blue Ribbon light. Ignore the 10 foot Marlin. He's just hamming it up for the camera. He's a show off.

You have to see it through the eyes of an old married "cowboy" just off the plane from Montana in mid-winter. We were all sitting at this long table on stools and it was really loud in there so the waitress came around and stood right next to each of us to take our order. My eye level sitting on the stool was just about - well, use your imagination

I've got several "Marlins" but I don't have them on racks on the wall. One of them hangs muzzle down on a peg by the door.

Cool! But what is a 5 day option? I've never heard of it and I've bought and sold a bunch of houses.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention. Which is entirely possible with me.

Once we execute an offer ( accept ) the buyer has 5 days to back out for any reason. During that time the buyer does the inspection and puts in a repair order or gets out of the deal.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

So I decided to put up the 10x13 gazebo we bought last fall. In the first paragraph of the instructions it stated that 6-8 people were required for assembly! It didn't take that many to build my house.

I did it by myself in 3.5 hours. I wish things went that smooth when I work on my truck. Naturally the next day we had 60MPH winds with rain and some snow. It did survive.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Went to the bank to get funds for another toy to add to my panoply. This will be my third CZ rifle and my first two are fantastic shooters. I really need to get down to just one hobby and try to be good at that instead of mediocre at 3 or 4.

I'll have to find a friend one day who has a CZ to see how much better it shoots than my k10/22t Ruger. I shoot 196+/200 (benchrest) but I see people with smaller groups using CZ and high-dollar ammo. Maybe CCI Mini Mags aren't good enough? Idunno.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

around '97 i built our patio, after all these yrs it was getting ratty and some boards were getting punky and soft.
put in new soffit, some vinyl lattice, then some fresh paint, then re-decked it. wit the crazy price of lumber, i re-hashed some of the good old deck boards to replace a couple of soft stringers around the edge. also replaced the rotting plywood skirting wit some new PT plywood.

only thing left now is to rebuild the stairs- pretty rough shape after 20+ yrs in the weather. wife has also decided we want to lattice 3 more sides, wit "crazy lady" next door, i concur

If you ever find yourself in central AR I’ll let you give one a try. I used to shoot small bore silhouette years ago. Off hand shooting steel targets at 40, 60, 80, and 100 yards. My CZ in .22lr just edges out my Ruger 77/22 with all ammo tested. From bulk up to the expensive Eley and Lapua.

I’d like to do that shooting again as it was really fun.

Shooting gophers really builds up your skill! Some years ago I spent much of a summer shooting gophers on the neighbors ranch. I about wiped them out down on this end but there is a bluff overlooking a big field on the other end. I've got an old Marlin made "JC Higgins" and I don't know how strictly accurate it is, but I was looping bulk ammo in the wind and getting some hits out 100++ yards. Had to aim a couple feet high and to one side

Yea no kidding Larry, I grabbed a load about the same size last fall from the same friend. Pretty good deal two loads of Apple cost me a rack of ribs next time I smoke. Those loads of Apple will last a few years easy, as much as I smoke anymore. Today was a productive day actually, got the wood, worked on my shed with my pappy in law, and bought two rust free, straight, square bodies to flip.

Cutting all that up looks like a job for a pair of garden shears

I cut a little bit more juniper and one little pine on our new adjoining property. I'm trying to get the turn-around wide enough that somebody could get a big pickup camper or a ~25' trailer or motorhome around the circle. There's a fairly big pine right in the middle that I'm planning to leave standing.

I cut a little bit more juniper and one little pine on our new adjoining property. I'm trying to get the turn-around wide enough that somebody could get a big pickup camper or a ~25' trailer or motorhome around the circle. There's a fairly big pine right in the middle that I'm planning to leave standing.
I think kitchen scissors would have done a lot of it it’s perfect for my smoker because the heat doesn’t get out of control.

I guess it's worth it for that. I drag stuff a lot bigger than that to the slash pile.

I hate cutting logs for firewood less than about 8-10 inches diameter but of course I need to use the whole thing as much as possible. I go down to about 2" before I give up, mostly to reduce the amount of brush left over as much as possible.

Cutting small green trees just to clear space is the worst. Seems like you cut and stack brush all morning and end up with a couple wheelbarrows worth of firewood. The pines will take over the whole place if you don't keep after them. And I need to attack the juniper regrowth around the house with the brush saw. The stumps never seem to die
