Re: post up your camping pics
Snow's coming in Diesel. Mind you, I watch a couple of webcams in BC (Smithers/Invermere) and still nothing on the ground really. Soon though! Fires a thing of the past already (in your neck of the woods). Hard watching the dawg slow down.....

no Billhilly, everything is still on the mountains...()...and not in my driveway...()
and ya, just like that our fire season is done...feel for the Californians right now- pretty intense what's happening and it is very hard watching my truck riding, mountain climbing, go everywhere with, fishing buddy for 13 yrs, wind down... |

Re: post up your camping pics
....another one...
and this guy...not the 10-20 he would catch when younger, but not bad for a 91 yr old fart... huh? got some big birds lurking around? 6 feet off the ground.. came upon this '67 goat on the way home...notice the brake lites are'nt on? it'a 4 spd and totally stock down to redlines- sweet, 4 spd rag gto...and the color, similar to my green, but much nicer. my crew is finally booked for the paint shop on dec 15, may have to look this green up |

Re: post up your camping pics
thanks MTCK!
hope i look as good at 91 myself... and you can't belive HOW EXCITED i am for some paint...been waiting about 12 yrs or so to get some nice-ness on it. got 12 yrs of asst. dents and whatnot to fix first, right now it don't look too bad "across the street on the other side of town with blinders on", want to change that to across the street in front of my house with sunglasses on.. my insurance on it runs out dec 20, so i'm taking it in on the 15, i haft to stop myself from taking it apart untill then, i'll be stripping it down for my guy, and i really want to start "dis-assemble" it right now! after blowing my paint job money earlier this yr for a quad for my son, i have managed to save up over half, and a small bank loan is taking care of the rest.. |

another bridge
this spawning steelhead swam over for a photo-op another "bridge", slicker then pig snot... i used the log in the background, kid jumped, dawg waded thru... looking for fish, none here, but the bears had a feast here...there's 8 or 9 strewn on the shore half-eaten |

Re: post up your camping pics
hiked down to the river...the mist adds a nice touch...
this is why we call it ghosts of the giants....was logged back in the nineteen '20's, must have been an awe inspiring sight. i guess back then "profits" outweighed "preservation for future generations" there is still a couple of giants at the top of the valley, luckily their in a park so their off-limits to the saw... |

Re: post up your camping pics
it's kinda cool walking among them, just picturing in my head what it must have looked like. i remember back in the '70's as a kid, a local logging company brought down a giant, then brought it down on 7 or 8 logging trucks, each truck hauling just one piece that were as tall as the trucks and cut a little long so they were hanging 10-25 feet off the back.
they then parked them end to end in the mall parking lot displaying them for a couple days |

Re: post up your camping pics
must have been a job cutting them down, be like a building falling. you can see notches in them from the loggers, and they dwarf the trees growing out of them....sad part is they will never, ever get that big in the valley again...man will chop them down long before they become giants...

Re: post up your camping pics
might have read a thread i had elsewhere, but my bush buddy Dieseldawg passed away earlier this week. he died from kidney failure, but at 13, he was slowing down and his hips were wearing out, so i had been taking him out a lot lately, cause i knew deep down his time was limited.
these are just some randoms of his trips in the last 2 months. nothing radical, his hips were slowing him down he always loved going fishing at the river or harrassing the beavers... yep, he's a river dawg... |

Re: post up your camping pics
I’m so sorry for your loss! I’ve really enjoyed your pictures over the years. Dawg was obviously a great companion! I always tell myself I’m not going to get another dog because it’s so damn hard when we lose them! But, we always do. It seems like even if we’re not looking, one always finds us. I’m starting to think I live in one of those neighborhoods where people just dump them knowing they will probably find a good home.
