Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I wasn't happy.
Also, went for a walk today, first time after 5 days of covid. Wow. Winded real fast. I should have expected that, but I was surprised.

And here, like a week ago:
And widened the brake pedal twice because I can't measure:

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
In an impulsive move, I decided to spray the underside of the hood engine bay colour instead of body colour.
And to feel productive, I hung the doors. Different camera, which captures the orange better:

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
It'll be nice, do you paint the doors in the cab?

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
The gray was previously painted on the doors. The orange will be painted on the doors along with the whole truck all in one go.

Blasted and epoxy primed the hood hinges,
and took a blurry picture of the plugged antenna hole.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Painted the hood hinges and the heater duct/valve/thingie:
Also picked up two sets of LS injectors on the weekend (50% off sale at Pick-N-Pull) which I will decap and get cleaned and flow tested.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Pops came home from the hospital last night. 25 days stay. Home care started that very evening too (yay). He seems to have aged considerably since before he went in. We'll see how he is once he gets some strength up along with consistently taking his meds.
Got the rubbers seals on the inner fenders on Monday, and might be installing those tonight.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Dad's back in hospital.
Primed a set of my 18" steelies, and the cowl outers, and the fasteners: Also picked up a Fuel Injector Cleaner/Tester and have been playing with that, and twenty-four Chevy LS injectors:

Faux white-walls (photo saturation changed to better portray the actual orange):

Local guy has a proper ASNU machine, and charges $30 per injector, which I believe includes new seals and filter.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
You know what is hard to install all by yourself? The Hood. The hood is hard.
Use some "studs" (long bolts with the head cut off) to use as a "pin" to keep the rear hood mount hole in the hinge, while you fumble to get the front bolt in. Then unthread the "pin" and thread in the rear bolt. All the while balancing the hood on your back/shoulders/head.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I'm also a bit afraid of having to work on my hood and then install it. But you found a good solution.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Met with pop's case manager today. Some new at-home assessment since he's come home from the hospital. They've begun paperwork to get pops in a home. Freaking yay!! Such a relief.
