Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I moved my nos coolant bottle to beside the battery. It tucks a bit under the fender and the "hot" and "cold" are still completely visible from inside the engine bay with the fender on. The deco Remy regulator box I where my headlight relays will be hidden in behind the battery.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

The doors are going to get a trough kind of bracket put nder the window stop for the vacuum lock hoses to rest in so they are are not just hanging down or laying on the bottom of the door. The original catch area got a piece put in so it still had the area pushed out like stockjust with no hole. A few more small things and hopefully we can see the drivers door with a skin on it tomorrow at the end of the day!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

The reproduction door bottom panels don't have the stamped triangle on the bottom. mine were a bit rusty in that area so patched in the spot and got the triangle back in. It's all about the detail.

Are those triangles unique to pickups or to GMC's? My Suburban doesn't have them. And I would guess the doors are original.

OOPS! I was looking at the rear corner of the door. I do have the triangle at the front corner.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Yep. It's nice. Keeps the strength in the metal and limits the 2 panels touching each other. These are the details the aftermarket misses out on. There is a little area just outside the main curve of the door that isn't their either but I can't get metal guy to rework every aftermarket panel. I can't afford it lol.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I've only ever had 67 and 68 trucks and they were on both of those. I can't say they would be on any other years

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I got a corvette 1969 late model to 1976 hood pin latch with spring for a hood popper. Mounts up great. Should work wonderfully. I used my original truck hood pin and not the corvette one.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I finished both my exterior door handles for the ground switch that will iluminate the lock rings and the illuminated entry. I also started on the rad support for the headlight washer hoses and finishing up the trans cooler stuff . I need to get this stuff done for front end Mock up which will be soon!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

A few pics of the headlight washer system. The pump is on the inside of the fender. I used grommets that look exactly like the wiring grommets to keep it looking stock. The hose will run under the grill header to the other headlight on the passenger side.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This is just loosely cut but I wanted a visual.. I might cover the woodgrain in the doors with the dash pad and seat inner pleat vinyl color as woodgrain won't work in my 67 interior. It will have a pattern close to the seats in the vinyl ad it will be horizontal as the 67 gmc's had their vinyl door panels done that way from factory. What do you think?

I like that. The 72 door panels remind me of the 65-67 corvette panels. With that insert it will tie in the 67 GMC original design. With all your period correct ideas, this truck could have been some “Big Wig” executive in General Motors COPO truck.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

The inner vinyl will be the same color as the red in the seat center. It's real close to what is in there but a tad more red and matches the dash pad.

Here’s my red interior from my black 72. Similar to your concept with vertical strips/stitching.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Went and looked at the cab today. It's pretty much done as far as metal work goes. My front end will go for fitment in 2 weeks and final door adjustments. Then it will be putty work and primer!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Today I put all the glass and guts into the doors my metal guy wants the weight in the door for final fitting. I had to move my kick panel speakers lower because of my door wiring. And I got my hood latch brace modified for the transmission cooler.

I have a nos condenser but am toying with putting in a parallel flow condenser in a stock set up. Anyone have experience here?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I had the lines for the transmission cooler lengthened 3.5 inches and now they reach to the inside of the rad support. They pass thu grommet directly under the ac line grommets using the same grommets .

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I have one of those hard bed covers too and personally dont care for the look. Id like to figure out a way to sort of trim it back so it was more flush with the besides and cover it with vinyl like a vinyl top and put some snap heads along the edges so it looks like an old school tonneau cover, but much sturdier.

If it disrupts the factory body lines it doesn't belong. Just my opinion

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Here's the line between the rad and the cooler. I will have to wait till I get the rad support on the frame to fit the return line that goes between the cooler and the transmission. It just clears the inner fender.
