Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I forgot to take the camera. But I got the motor ready to go back "on" to the chassis. Fuel pump, starter, misc. do-dads all bolted up. Bought a carb plate to lift it. Probably be "cherry picking" the motor and trans Tuesday.
Then I'll measure for the drive shaft.

One step closer to body work.

Long weekend in San Francisco Bay Area. Fleet Week. The Blue Angles were powerful, to say the least. Some music, friends and too much food.

Came home and "won" my bid for a brake set-up on EBay. Here's the deal, Canadian re-manufactured, zinc encrusted prop valve, master cyl and booster.
All the brackets and fittings. Even though it put a hole in the build budget, I was happy at $162.50 + (big time) shipping. Gotta have good brakes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

i began removing some more of the junk off the chassis like exhaust and steel lines, gave the chassis it's second degrease coat and then got shut down by the 50mph winds. I then picked up a car hauler of a board member friend of mine to go pick up my rust free cab tomorrow on my 12hr round trip nice to be able to post about actually accomplishing a little for once, trying to beat winter and get the cahssis in the shop and ready for paint and parts installation

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Offered it for sale today, if it sells I found a real swb with less body work that I want to buy, as my swb is a lwb shortened and box also cut up.

Wasn't today, but a coupla weeks ago I converted it to power steering and installed a front sway bar. Drives a lot nicer now, but I need to get it aligned yet.

Painted new rockers, tailgate and bed front. Adjusted the brake light switch after a booster install. Should be picking up the rest of the bed from the sandblaster today!!!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Today I installed a new 5.5" touch screen CD/DVD player. Along with that I installed a rear view camera. The camera is a 1" diameter camera housed in an aluminum case. I mounted it to the left of the license plate in the license plate bracket. It works great for backing in tight places and has night vision as well. I have a couple more cameras like this and am thinking of mounting one in the front somewhere as well. The rear camera is great for hooking up a trailer hitch, no more depending on my wife's horrible hand gestures while while backing up to my trailer!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Picked up the wood for my bed. Awesome looking blue beatle kill pine. Soft wood but the bed will only see very light use. Got the rest of the bed back from the sandblaster. Now I gotta get to work on it!

The wood looks great. It has a blueish tint to the grain and it was CHEAP! cost me $45 for 8- 1x8x8 boards, kiln dried and totally straight. I'm excited to get started fitting them. How's the weather over there. I grew up in Portland and miss the green but not the rain.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Weather is great I live in the southern part of the state so it don't rain as much.. My brother lives in denver and my dad lives in kremmling co beautiful place but if there's ever a forest fire id run like the wind.. I may have to have some of the beetle wood shipped north as I'm trying to find a blue wood to match the blue paint on my truck...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well, the motor is now shoe-horned into the frame. We moved the cab around to make room for the cut-off blade after the headers gave us a challenge. Just a little chunk out of the frame.... The 350 and 350 are all cozily bolted in tho their new home now....Let's see...What's next? Drive-line measurements...
Thanks to Dave, Jessie, and Lance.

Lightbulb Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I picked up a new 40amp relay @ O-rileys for the driving lights and installed it. The package has a misprint on it also I found out. They have the hot wire and accesary wires reversed on it. I think this is why the first one quit working. I wired it like my drawing shows. They had 30 and 87 backwards, I don't know if that was it but it quit working and it's only a couple months old.
Just some more info. I wired them so the head light switch when pulled on to the parking lights they come on.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Wow! What a weekend of working on the truck. I changed the oil, cleaned the front suspension, cleaned a bunch of grounding points, chased down a bunch of electrical gremlins, and fixed a leaky fuel return line. The PO had over a 6 foot length of power wire to the HEI which I shortened considerably. I found out the PO had already done away with the external voltage regulator and upgraded the alternator. I also installed new door panels and a new rear view mirror which my truck didn't have before.

Amazing how the "Leg" on that "R" is touching your new wood bed.
Although there are rises/divets, the letters still look so smooth.........

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Pulled my front brake drums apart to see how everything looks...........NOT GOOD AT ALL. Drivers side pads had no material and they wore 2 deep grooves in the drums. Passenger's side was bad but not that bad. I order all new parts drums, shoes, springs and wheel cylinders. Will pick them up tomorrow, so tonight I cleaned up the front suspension to get ready for new parts tomorrow.

I like how he used an anti reflection coating on that shiny bed so the letters don't reflect and ruin the appearance! Nice lettering!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I did some work in the engine compartment. Added a chrome 1 wire alternator and was able to tape back and eliminate a whole section of harness. Changed out some pullys and valve covers and added some stainless braided hoses.

Before

after
