Yeah, we got a bunch here. Went from dead calm to 50mph winds, then the rain came, then the quarter and dime size hail, thunder storm....and the rain just kept coming. Visibility driving home was around 20-30' at most. But got home safely. They say we have more coming today.

No problem.......check post 922 for all the info on the exhaust kit. Its a really nice kit and you can't beat the price for full exhaust, mufflers and hardware. And the H pipe is already welded.

That's the same one I have been looking at for a while now. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like it once you install the kit.

I'll run the mufflers that came with the kit, I can always change them if I don't like them. All hardware and the mufflers come with, but they do come with the flat style flange fittings for headers. I ordered some ball style flanges to go with my Hedman headers. Advertised for 1966 - 1972 small block and big block 2wd trucks, so I figured it couldn't be to far off of a fit for the 63.

I'll be sure to take pics of the install and let everyone know how the fitment is. The header reducers came in last night. They are from Hedman....so a nice quality part.

I also have your hydraulic clutch conversion and brake mc kit to install. Its been in a box for almost 3 years, but still have it and it will be used. The Novak kit will round out the hydraulic clutch.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Ordered the last two pieces for the exhaust. The reducers the 1st pieces of exhaust pipe are both 2.5" so they require a butt joint clamp. No biggie.....$6.97 each made from stainless steel and come w/grade 8 bolts. The exhaust can be welded also, but I'm going to clamp mine. Summit Part # 693250

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-693250/overview/

I would have preferred a lap joint like the rest of the exhaust, but it wasn't an option when getting the header reducers....so butt joint it is.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

IMO the band clamps are the best way to go on all the joints. They don't deform the tube like the u-bolt clamps, so you can disassemble the joints if so desired.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

hmmm....ive been wondering about the clamps over the ubolts. maybe i'll order some more to finish up the system. summit says they don't require anything to seal, but the goo may be an added benefit to ensure a good seal. it will clean up easy too. thanks guys.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

me too.....

spent most of the day prepping the fleetside front frame and firewall for paint so i can take the front end off the stepside and get it mounted. i have another front end for the stepside. will probably do the piller/floor/cab corner work too while its off on the driver side. the cab mounts look horrible on the driver side. i already have gm sheetmetal to replace it all.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Couple of picks of the front tow hooks....don't mind the driver side bumper being slightly off and the dirty chrome..just put it back on for mock up, but they will come back off this week.

I wouldn't be where I'm at without the small projects. Especially with our last winter and until the barn is complete. But like most projects....some of the small ones can get very tedious too.

Believe I'da sprayed that there with Rustolem Central Carolina Dirt Color, the kind that comes out the can flecked with oil spots.

Less cleanin down the road!

Looks great.

haha....i hear you there. actually the factory paint held up really good. but i can't leave well enough alone and it'd look off with everything else being painted. so a quick scuff, degrease and couple of coats later....

its getting there though, one piece at a time.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Went by Wilson Off Road in Fayetteville today. They are the go to guys for anything gearbox or 4x4 related. He's going to do my posi conversion for me. $300 for time and labor plus the rebuild kit (just new seals, fluids, shims and seals). I've already had the posi rebuilt and carrier bearings pressed on. And 3-4 day turn around time. So the rear rend will come out here in the next few weeks and get rebuilt. Be nice to have both wheels move under the big block. .......or should I say spin?
