grew up fishing quite a bit so can't remember my first trip.. that and got a few brain cells on the injured reserve list that ain't talking..

doubt I caught much this day though lol, but who knows, lots of good fishin' back home so could have caught a big mess that day..

Grandpa and Grandma came up from AR and eventually settled in Lowry City near Truman..

remember many trips to the lakes around there in Grandpa's Impala, poles fit in the trunk without bending LOL..

later growing up on the farm, plenty of fish right out the back door




taken my kids a couple of times with no luck.. my boy caught his first fish with Grandpa, Mrs. Bee's dad had all girls so I'm cool with that

my buddy took us out in his bass cat on Puddingstone couple of years ago, no fish but those kids stuck it out all day..






here they are in my little vee hull in Alamitos bay, gonna get set up for fishing this year I hope..

Killer, it wasn't unusual for people to leave here looking for work. They were the ones lucky enough to make enough to buy the gas to leave.

There were two "waves" of people leaving. One after the great depression and one after WWII.

I have relatives around Fresno and Sanger and Corona and Riverside still. I have lost touch with a lot of them except an uncle in Corona.

They left for California, Wichita, Topeka (my wifes family) and KC.

My dad and uncle had a remodeling business in KC in the fifties. They "cut a fat hog" and got their farms and equipment paid for and some money in the bank and came back here for the quality of life.

I almost starved out in the late seventies, early eighties. Since construction was still strong on the east coast in the Carolina's. We kept a little escape fund, and almost had to use it a couple of times to go where the work was.

Then the people that left started retiring and moving back and brought some money with them and saved the rest of us.

Fishing was good yesterday.

He'll be pulling up the big ones before you know it. I can't wait to fish with my grandson the first time.

Need some knowledge from the knowledgees....

Have a buddy that wants 19.5" 8 lug rims for a project. Only thing I can find that had them was a '66 Custom Camper Special. So am I going to be looking for rims that are very hard to find or somewhat common?

Another night we were blowing them off at the house

I had to laugh at that one. I get that response on a regular basis. I always say "Well, you wanted me" and she says "I don't remember that at all".

We were camping at a Corp campground last year and it was raining. I perked the fire up with a pint of diesel. The entire campground heard her express her disapproval.

I remember mom ordering me, "Make sure you get behind your ears". I always wondered why that was so much more important to her than other behind places she never mentioned.

I knew it! just hoped no one would notice.. it was late after work, it was getting cold, my pant legs and boots were soaked so I had to call it.. I think the little stuff left will clean up easy enough in the driveway.. good news is that it's in great shape! no road scars, all machined surfaces are sharp and flat, no dents in the cover, tubes, backplates, etc..

and that's a good point, why didn't mom ever mention the unmentionable places? I mean, isn't that mom's job? have to ask Mrs. Bee when they get home..

sooo, ran into my neighbor at the pub after work the other night and gave him a lift home.. and he gave me some of the most tasty avocados I've had in a while..

one good thing about CA besides the weather I guess

Moms. They said to “be sure and put on clean underwear when you are going out. You never know when you will be in an accident.”
If you are in an accident theres a good chance your underwear will be “dirty’d up” anyway!

well, here's a pro tip for the dads out there.. tired of all the bird poop on your kids swing seats?

add an extra carbiner to one side of the chain to hang the swing seats up vertically when not in use..

Ahhh-vocados, yes such fine memories. Margie was her name and her dad was an avocado rancher. But that was long ago and I still look forward to the avocados when I go to CA.

I'm sure she knew she'd have been getting indications if we hadn't been getting behind there
