Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

good info on powdercoating...

stock water pump pulley (as far as i know), truck had a HD cooling option, 4 core radiator and double belts to the alternator. Also had a smog pump bracket on pass side, which is what i assume the three groove pulley was for. Crank was only a double pulley but i added a third for the power steering add-on.

Stock radiator pipe that I picked up from the board,

I'm thinking about a similar dark green newer GM color.. I really like the paint on the new 15 pax van at work, polo green metallic green...

like the old vette paint, plus the truck was 505 Dark green originally, I just want to stay semi original and make it "pop".. It will have an ivory nose and tailgate letters, SS bed strips and would is TBD, plus NOS side mouldings.

Mike, look up the Fathom Green of the 69' Camaro and '70 Chevelle, it is a gorgeous dark green with a metallic type look. It has a little bit of olive in some sun, but is a dark green. I think it would accent the body lines nicely and have a vintage paint vibe. Just a thought. Trevor

I'll check it out.. thanks

I figure since this will be a resto mod I don't want the single stage dark green, a metallic would be nice. Hopefully that doesn't mean that the body work bill goes over $5K (which is cheap I know) since mama holds the stimulus donations.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

I got my rad support back from the PC today, look pretty good but not 100% perfect... Also had him blast my water pump so I can get some paint to stick...

think I should prime again or just go straight engine paint? its pretty etched now so I think it will be fine..

That sucks! I had went to turn on my gas fireplace only to find out it had leaked 500lbs of propane due to a boken flare nut outside. Propane is $4 something a gallon you do the math! So I feel your pain!

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

ouch, I have natural gas and my budget only runs about $70-$100/month... my neighbor heard that and installed a natural gas furnace, he had a heat pump and had $400 bills last year.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

I would personally shoot an engine primer, or I would just shoot the engine color. Many paints will not stick to etching primer like you used, and is probably why it had some problems. Trevor

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

the paint stuck to the etch, it was on the backside of the orange paint chips! The etch didn't stick, that was the main problem... The pump was a fairly smooth cast piece that I didn't properly prep I guess...
