Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

thanks! but it's not that hard, just take your time.
when your done you can look at it and say "ya, i built that"

finding time can be a hassle...between the crew and 3 puppies, i have'nt got a lot done on my Prowler...some leafs and axles, front jack and got the 2 long inside walls cut out...

lots of cutting and modifying, added a few other pieces, but i think it will work. got a few more cabinets to go in and have to make the table, benches and a rear bed. the loo will go beside the sink, trying to keep all the plumbing on one side.

Looks great to me.....puppies are a lot of fun though. My girlfriend is looking for a new pup since current dog is about to turn twelve. My 2 year old grandson was plugging his nose today. He was asked why he was plugging it and he said "smells like gog yit". ......lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

I know what you mean about not finding time. I think ive got the trucks to piece my plan together, but I'm so slow on cleaning the workbench of my other hobby (vintage chainsaws) to get started on it. I'm getting there though, I swear...

go for it Dale! as long as the senior dawg don't mind. they are fun (and messy) had my 3 idjits at the river a couple times lately, it's a blast, they love cruising around in the bush, everything is a new adventure for them.
is "gog yit" 2 yr old-ese for doggy? lol.
my son is almost 15 and has developed a total responsible attitude (finally!) and has really stepped up feeding, cleaning up, and walking the mutts...pretty sure he's hooked for life

been crawling along on my Prowler...
not a lot, but still forward progress...lol
got all the interior walls cut out, bench's & table made, rear bed in and been refining the cupboards and stuff. that empty spot between the sink and bed is for the crapper if it ever gets here

here's some time consumed, fitting all these shelf's into a pantry, and i did find some 1/25 propane bottles online, but at $22 clams each....that's more than i got in the whole trailer...so, here's my rube bottles, like i said, made from plane bomber turrets, x-acto blade storage tubes and some scrap plastic. made them bigger than a 20 lb'er too, remember my dad having 40's on his trailer

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

well this has been a slow build...problem after problem.
after waiting a couple months, some of the interior parts i ordered from fleabay never showed up, ebay says it was a scammer seller...so i'm making my own junk instead.
Name: IMG_5014 (3).jpg
Views: 817
Size: 43.0 KB

then i tried to find some 1970's era "harvest gold" paint for the appliances...good luck with that...only found 1 place and they don't ship paint over the border....so i mixed up 3 or 4 colors to try make my own...
also painted the plastic to look like wood
Name: IMG_5011.jpg
Views: 846
Size: 46.1 KBName: IMG_5010.jpg

and the tiny bit of decal paper i had is waaaay old. after 10 yrs or so it just does not want to work or stay together, plus i don't have pieces big enuff to do the stripes on the ext or the walls on the int.....waiting for some more to show up. did get a grey water tank in though
Name: IMG_5015.jpg
Views: 857

and my rottie puppy has developed a taste for styrene... (actually developed a taste for anything she can fit in her mouth...lol)
spent hrs making louvers for the front window shade....then Roxie got it...i was able to salvage some of the louvers, but nothing else, so i made another one and made it smaller due to not having all the louvers.
if you look close, there is still teeth marks in some louvers i need to fix...

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

also had no luck in finding that "Prowler yellow" for the outside either...
ended up decanting some John deere yellow and mixed in some white. it's not accurate, but i think it'll work once the stripes go on

I think you nailed it on the trailer. It looks just like I remember them. I like the idea of the impala too. My mom had a 70 and then a 73. Thanks for the update!

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

wow...another long time..
well my impala did not pan out. the pieces i ordered off fleabay were not for an impala. but the guy refunded me and let me keep the parts
after doing nuthin' with it for a few mos, i dug this gumby little model out. it's from the American 66 series of 5 cheesy '66 cars Hasegawa put out in the '80's. not much to them- no motor (curbside) dash is a flat piece with a decal dash, and about 30 or so pieces.
i bought it as a started build for 5 clams back in the early '90's, but it was so lame, i did'nt put it together. only changes are towing mirrors and a hitch, and wider tires with diff wheels, orig tires were cracked in half. and my rottie pup chewed on it one day which pretty much destroyed the lower fender vents, so i just eliminated 'em
for a quick cheesy model it dont look too bad in front of the prowler

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

well i certainly expected to finish this one a long time ago, but it turned into one big cluster schmuck...
pieces of it started disappearing, rims and tires, windshield, my custom decals, the only set of fenderwell headers i had, the blower.....ripped my model room apart but could'nt find anything.
then the wifey was tidying up around Roxie's bed and asked me if i knew where all this chewed up plastic came from.............
then i could'nt chrome anything, could'nt find my Molotow pen.....
my Rottie has been on a chewing rip lately...
custom chrome head, ear, foot and a blotch on the floor...

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

this one is the close-est i have come to chucking in the can. had to scratch the headers, make a fr window and a driveshaft. the other eaten parts i was able to replace. heck of a time making the body fit, Roxie chewed the firewall, but i was able to salvage it. then i guess my "eyeball engineering" was off a 64th. rollbar hit the top of my home made windshield. same wit the rad...and of course this is after everything is painted...said the hay with it and slapped some flat black on it and some decals from the parts box and called it a day...

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

my wife got me the gmc wrecker and big game gmc last yr, but have'nt done nuthin' with them cause i couldn't find another donor at a reasonable cost.
wanted to do a crew outta the two, but one is 1/24 and one is 1/25. couple days ago was digging threw some crap and came across this old mangy cab from some project...and it's a 1/25 so it fits the wrecker cab. don't like the smooth rear cab either, found this rr cab wall from another junker
Name: IMG_4277.jpg
Views: 274
Size: 43.8 KB

so the plan now is to crewcab the wrecker and break down and pay a stupid price for another big game so i can have a round eye crew, and get hawgs and t-cases for both trucks.went to a hobby shop 6 towns over prepared to pay a stupid price and wouldn't ya know it, they didn't have one...so to make it a not useless trip, i grabbed a '76 stepside sport.
Name: IMG_4305.jpg
Views: 270
Size: 34.1 KB

since i want to put the wrecker body on a '60-'66 chev, i needed a box of some sort for it. after digging threw more junk (amazing what you can find after you've forgotten about it...) came across this stepper box. so now i will have a round eye crew stepper and a round eye longbox crew.
piecing junk together..

quick coat of primer to see how much more bodywork. also cut off that goofy visor and molded in "engine" will get a real visor and a real engine
