Thanks firenuttz!!
I read and planned on shortening one for a year or so, then a buddy, JohnC, found one already shortened that I couldn't pass up.
I can get you pics of the frame or probably answer any questions you have.
Since yours is lifted (right?), you could probably just move your spring hangers forward 14" and cut the excess off the back of the frame....

ya, i have about 8 inches of lift and i plan on going to about a 12 inch lift with two 16 inch coil overs on each corner and a triangulated 4 link setup so i was thinking of moving the axle when i do that, but i dont know if i want to set it up as a long bed and see it first because im kinda partial to the length of the truck, i think that they look better when lifted as a long bed but at the same time i love the way your truck looks. i think it might be because your truck is a two wheel drive and low. do you have any pictures of lifted ccsb's?

Yeah
Don't get me wrong, I love them low
But since I'm not rollin' like you I only get one vehicle and it is toy/DD plus it needs to be capable of family duties including camping and trail running, not to mention, I like playing in the mud and sand

Ok, I'm confused now. It's like reading one of those books "if you want them to open the box, go to page 50. If you want them to ignore the box, go to page 55".

that truck sits almost like mine does but it is about 2 inches higher in the rear than the front and mine sits level. imo the truck has to have the right stance with the right wheels and tires, like yours, but if it is done wrong and the axle is an inch too far forward or backward it looks terrible or if it has too big of a wheel and tire combo on a 4x4 it looks just as bad. i dont know, ill probably sit around and contemplate my options until im in my 30's.

dont get me wrong, i like that truck a lot, im more referring to this truck, the axle looks like it is too far forward and the wheels are too big, imo this truck needs about a 35 and they need to be 14.5's not 12.5's

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Gerald- joe uses the iphone and he makes fun of my crackberry all the time. But you upload pics the same way you normally do it from a computer. (Obviously the pictures have to be on your phone to upload to this site) reply to the thread then go advanced then upload browse the tricky part is once you've uploaded then close the window then close it again (it appears not to have uploaded) hit sumbit message and the picture upload.

whoops this is the truck that i was talking about, the wheels are too tall too skinny and the rear end looks too far forward. it just looks too...out of proportion

Now see, to me, that truck looks like it has great proportions. I think the rear end placement is an optical illusion because of the angle of the picture. I think that truck is darn near perfect with lift, tires, and stance

I agree with you On the silver one firenuttz, and I think the blue one is dead on.
I'll probably only do @4" lift and 33's on mine...

Gerald, I upload pics to photobucket from my phone then copy/paste them here

do you still have the spring hangers for the front from that 91 burb in your signature? and the 4x4 engine mounts and cross member? i would save all of that if you can and just buy a four inch lift that comes with front springs and put those in, what axles would you use if you converted the truck to a 4x4? 1 ton, 3/4 ton, or half ton? and what trans/t-case would you use? if you want to keep it a small block auto than i would go for a 4l80 with an np208 but if you want a manual than i would try to find a 5 speed np208 combo out of a early nintys 4x4 and find the axle out of a leaf sprung front ford and have a drivers drop setup because te spring perches are less than an inch off from ford to chevy to dodge when the axle is leaf spring setup i dont know, im rambling on and need to stop my shenanigans
