I went with 18 because I did not want rubberband tires. I've seen 20's with huge tires but the trucks were bagged so they did not have to worry about the truck being too high. I'm not bagged and I like that muscle look on a truck. I wanted to run some meat on the rear. Like this, Its not a chevy but I like how this looks in the rear fender well. I would show the whole truck but Chevy purist may get mad. I'm more a carnut than a chevy nut.lol I do wish it had a little more lip though. I believe this is a 17 if my memory serves me correctly.

Man your hood is awesome. It looks like it is brand new. Those rims are really nice. On your car how much of an offset did you have them do on your rims? Looking to change the offset of a pair of rims I have.

Yeah I know the wheel you are talking about. Man I remember when I was in high school and in college I use to buy one wheel at a time.lol Then one tire at a time.lol

It took me it seems like forever to buy the wheels for the truck. I have two young daughters and their needs come first, but my wife helped me a little so I think shes a keeper.lol

I wish they did sale sectioned hoods I sure would have bought one man that thing was a lot of work. The welding part was easy, I try not to use much filler only a skim coat and primers. So it was a lot of hammer and dolly work. I also added some bracing and spot welded the panel to the bracing. So its a lot of work in that hood and I appreciate you telling me it looks decent.




These are my car wheels, they have a 4 inch backspace. I put them on the truck to see if I really wanted to go with 18's.

Now you must have the room I narrowed my rearend on the car and the truck.

Hey man thanks.

I have a TCI Mustang 2 crossmember which the data says I have a 59 inch track width.

You have or had a camaro which would bring you to around a 61 1/2 inch track width.

If I were clipping a 55-59 chevy truck. The clip I tell people to use is 78-88 Monte Carlo, Gran Prix, Regal etc. which would give you a 58 inch track width. The track width makes it a nice choice for Advanced Designs or Task Force trucks. The camaro is a great clip the only reason I use the monte carlo over it is the track width.

How did you decide to fix your issue with your wheels?

Thank's for the info, I assume that is wms to wms? Not positive yet,but am leaning toward cutting a few inches from center of the clip, i am doing a lot of measuring right now to figure out if (and how much)the firewall/tunnel will need to be cut since the engine will sit higher as I bring it together, the heater hose inlet/outlets are already very close to the pass. side control arm now so as you well know "one mod leads to another" regardless of how I go,the goal is to be able to turn lock to lock aired out when finished.

Before you go there let me ask you this. Do you have a two piece wheel? If so you can have the backspace changed if you find the right wheel guy. My rear wheels went from this

This is the same wheel I just had the backspace changed and a meatier tire when I narrowed the rearend.

Yes they are 2 piece , they are 7" wide w/3.75" b.s. which puts me 2.75" wider than you are currently. What did that cost you? if you don't mind me asking?

Maybe i'll scout out a Monte/regal clip, (unfortunately i have dropped spindles and all the rebuild parts for the clip i have.) do you happen know what the distance between the upper control arm bushings is on the Monte clips? are the rear steer? i need to compare these measurements to what i have ,it may be i end up with the same challenges either way.

The monte clip steering box is up front and no I don't know the distanced between the upper control arm bushings. But man I would look into getting the backspace changed on those wheels. You've done a nice install on the clip and that clip does ride nice, its just wider but your issues can be solved with backspace. If the wheels are two piece it can be done.
