Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
Undone, I honestly can't say. The truck has had maybe 2-3 tanks of gas through it. I had the same question and my dad said the pressure from the filler and a good vent system and you won't have anything to worry about.

I did sell the c10 the other month, my wife decided the new Jimmy was the color of a penny so she stole the name

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
A little update on Jane, she has been slightly neglected since the blazer showed up. However I did manage to get a set of factory inner fenders to make an attempt at covering up my tread. I spent an entire evening putting in the drivers side, made all of the cuts under the fender well so you couldn't see any modifications but allowed a ton more room. The only problem was as soon as I turned the wheel it rubbed... bad. So I pulled it out, returned the passenger side, and accepted the fact that I am just going to run it without inner fenders.
I am planning on taking the old girl to the C10 Nationals in Nashville next month, anyone else planning on being there?

I also forgot, I finally did my bed floor lining before the Run to the Sun show in Myrtle back in March. This was my first time attending and I must say, it was impressive how many people show up for that thing.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
The truck still looks great and congrats on getting married!
Are you trying to do the front inner fenders or the wheel tubs in the bed? Have you considered getting some slosh tubs for the front?

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
I am trying to do the front inner fenders, my wheel tubs in the bed are factory and bolted right in. I have considered Slosh Tubs but the problem is I don't want to relocate my hood hinges after all the paint and body work. I was considering Hills inners as well but they are the same way, you have to cut the fender all up and move your hood hinges.. Oh well, maybe there is a product I don't know about that will let you keep the factory hinges and still give me some protection.

Forgot to post this but we took the old girl to Nashville for the southeastern truck nationals and brought home a little trophy for best paint. Will definitely be back next year

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
A minor update on this truck, yes I am still tinkering with her. I guess its true, you are never really done haha.
So first thing, I have been banging my head against the wall over a slow battery drain since I built this thing. About a month ago I was sick and tired of charging my battery and worrying about it draining when I drove it somewhere and parked it so I blew the interior apart and pulled out the multimeter to track this thing down. Initially I discovered that the alternator was contributing to the issue so I unplugged it (dropping it off at the rebuild shop today). After unplugging it I still had a .005 amp draw on the battery. I started unplugging fuses and discovered that pulling the cluster feed fuse eliminated the problem. After discovering that I had even more questions haha. I found that the cluster feed fuse is supposed to be a key on circuit but was getting power all the time. My first thought was the ignition switch crapped the bed and was letting power leach over. I swapped out the switch and the problem remained. After noticing a handful of sketchy wires on my factory harness I decided I needed to swap out my entire under dash harness with a good donor my dad donated about a year ago. I went through the new harness with a fine toothed comb, cleaned the crap out of everything, and put it all back together. After I installed the new harness I discovered the fuse was now switched properly with the ignition switch but I was still drawing power from somewhere... UGHH. Soo next I pulled out the instrument cluster and the draw went away. I started blanking off gauges and testing the draw and discovered that my temp gauge is getting power all the time causing my problem. I think the issue is coming from my printed circuit, I have 2 or 3 areas where the flat copper wire is not perfect and I think it may be leaching power between some of the hot wires on the circuit to the temp gauge. I am going to swap out my cluster with a known working cluster (from the jimmy) tonight and see if that makes all my problems go away. FINGERS CROSSED

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
I have been working on a small list of tweaks and adjustments I want to make to the truck after driving it a bit. Here is my current list:
1. Cam Swap - I have a new Crower 00351 cam that I ordered for this girl. Should make a big difference in the performance. Waiting to get new valve springs, lifters, etc and will pull the motor this winter or early Spring and do the swap 2. Redo sound deadener with Dynamat - The deadener I used was pretty cheap and does the job but I think upgrading to Dynamat will make a big difference. It gets pretty loud in the cab 3. Replace door gaskets - I am currently running repop door gaskets from the truck shop (I think they are Counterpart brand) and I am tired of slamming my doors. I am considering the clip on style gaskets and have a few part numbers jotted down but I can't decide on which route to go 4. Replace air cleaner - I really want a dual snorkel Camaro air cleaner powder coated black to replace the summit racing chrome air cleaner. Keeping my eyes peeled 5. Change out rear springs - I want to swap out my rear springs with 6" CPP drop springs. I am running 5" drop springs and 2" blocks now and I need more low out back That's it for now, should be a manageable list to get her ready for next summer... Hopefully

Hope you solve the electrical issue. It can really be a pain. Decided to completely rewire my '68, Ben Helton is performing the surgery at Alexander Speed. Still wanting to sell the '67.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane
Thanks Anthony, it's something that I should have done when I put the thing together but I was more focused on the big ticket items. It feels good resolving all of these open issues now though, it will make it a much nicer truck IMO once it's all done.
