Well we bought the turbo s4 Polaris Rzr my son in law won. He bought a new Polaris 2 seat turbo so we have been enjoying our weekends hitting different dune parks. Next trip is to Oregon dunes July 30th so maybe I will get something done before then.

I found both lizard skin products work amazing to keep the heat and sound out then add carpet, helps get rid of the sound that is already in the cab.

I have dealt with sound issues on new fleet trucks when the company bought diesels and didn't see the need for expensive sound deadening until the drivrers complained. I used rubber sheeting to make a cave for the engine that sat on round bar hangers that easily removed for service. much like the inner fendres on some oder commercial trucks. anyway, it worked wonders but doesn't look awesome unless you put it under the carper and up the firewall.
on my project I am using the floor and firewall from an 04 gmc envoy so the felt deadening material will fit like a glove under the carpet. hopefully thats good. I am not tyrying to make a loud truck anyway, if you vcan't tell it's running or not, mission accomplished.
thats just me, i know a lot of guys need that rumble.

Ok, someone should have told me what a PITA the door window trim installation was going to be! I got it done today, but I didn't take pictures yet.

I did take pictures of the windshield and side and back windows.

I paid the ACME Glass guys to do it at their shop. The rear and two sides took about an hour. Of course, they ripped the gasket on the rider's corner, it was a Precision with the chrome trim, but I had another gasket by a different manufacturer at home, but it had the black trim, and Laura wanted the chrome. So, I drove home to get the other gasket. They forced the chrome lock strip into it and scarred up the chrome in doing so. She went out to look at it today for the first time and of course saw that IMMEDIATELY!

Now she wants it replaced. I'm more than a little bummed.

ACME spent over 4 hours on the windshield. They tried all their tricks to get it in 3 times before the boss said, "that glass is just too big." LMC glass, but it turns out it was about 1/4" too big all the way around. So, for almost 3 hours they would sand it down a little and try it, then do it again. They must have sanded it and test fit it 6 times before it worked. They estimated it would be 200 for the 5 windows, but because of all the work on that oversized windshield it was 360. I didn't hesitate to pay when he said it would be more than the estimate, as I watched all they did, and it was a lot of work, 2 men tied up for over 5 hours!! Plus, I didn't know you could sand glass.

Now I have a question. You may recall that I bought the truck in pieces. I put the inside trim on today, and there is a gap.

On the top and the bottom. Is there a piece of trim that fits over that or is that the way it is? If there is supposed to be, where do you get it?

Yes there is a piece of trim that goes in between. Good job.

Glass install can be a real pain in the a$$. I have installed a few but don't want to try the curved 5 windows.

they cut a no trim gasket for trim? oh man you cant do that, never mind you would need an L shaped knife to do it, and perfect alignment...

precision brand rubber just isnt worth the (significant) savings, steele rubber costs 3-4x precision but its literally the difference between: me and a friend taking 2 hours to install the windshield and having gaps and puckers when we're done. or me installing the windshield by myself in a leisurely 20 minutes, no stress and no ill fitment.

I had an extra steele trim gasket around here, let me see if its still kicking around.

Another question, because I bought it in pieces. I need instructions of the head liner trim that holds it to the roof.

Should I try to find some of the trim to screw it in place, OR should I just go with the preformed ABS headliner and have it covered?

I used the "cardboard" type headliner material for mine. In the blue color that matches the carpet/seat/door panels. There is a break in the years, and i think 90% of it is "trim to fit".

Do what makes you happy on this one!

Thank you. I don't have the trim pieces that hold it in place and would have to source them and get them painted, but I think it might look better.

So, I'm still thinking about it.

My first post wasn't very clear, but the material I used, is held in place by the original trim pieces.

Ive got the abs head liner in my '49. worth the investment and looks good. real easy to install

no dice on the trim gasket, i know i bought it, i have the confirmation email and delivery notice. and i havent built a truck with windshield trim since kechi, which i used precision gasket on and boy did THAT suck. i will keep looking for it but its not where i remember seeing it, we know how that goes.


the 48 needs the screw in center and screw in rear trims. i have done a few of them and its a nice sunny beach to put in. not easy, a sunny beach.

the 49.5 went to a floating center trim, and boy was THAT a show. there were other changes in 49.5 like the glovebox, the windlace, and one that isnt coming to me right now. i have had a lot of permutations, the ones i hate are the new windlace/old headliner, the cab is phisicallt different so you cant use the floating trim if it is supposed have the screw in center trim. but the screw in headliner doesnt fit with the slide in windlace so you end up carefully trimming it. ugh.


anyway I will keep looking, maybe i took it to the shop?

The 48 has all glass installed and I'll need a different gasket for the 54, but you know that.

Ok Laura's "Farm Truck" is at the interior shop. When it comes back, I have to do the bed wood and it'll be complete, so I'm starting a new thread for my 54.

I'll post up pics of Farm Truck once the bed is in.
