Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
According to one of the guys at Proformance powertrain you can use it all the way back there as long as a 3 inch forward shift lever is used. But yes, I can move it to the center if need be....its only another $400 for the stinkin shifter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Washed the '63 Thursday evening. Friday, waxed and generally cleaned up real good for the Buggy Festival in Carthage, NC on Saturday, May 9. I thought my truck looked good until I saw some of the other trucks parked around me.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I spent the day yesterday putting the engine and transmission back in the 62. Looks like I might have to modify the trans crossmember. Try to get some pics this afternoon.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Hey Pappy, I cut my original manual crossmember out. The old adage "when in doubt, weld alot" was used on my frame. 2 Sawzall blades and couple cut disks.
Been working out of town so making the list and trimmed fenders for ground attack.

Someone has already taken the MT crossmember out when they put the v8 in. I changed the front crossmember, motor mounts to to an 81 for the disc brakes... Looks like the engine and trans are moved back about an inch or so. I have a cpp tubular crossmember that I'm thinking of using, but will have to see how it fits up. Posted via Mobile Device |

Here's a few pics of the engine/trans back in the 62, and first time it's been back on the floor with all the changes that have been made.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Got a break and finished fit checking the mild porterbuilt crossmember, DT headers, the LS3 and the CPP drop spindles and Baer brakes. Need to figure out the steering linkage and some bump stops next, pull it all back out and send for powder coating.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Finally!!
A ground wire to the body does wonders for my lights (Duh) I need to rebop a stock steering column, which is a mix of stuff, into a 66 column. Anyone have a pic of the entire assembly or a link to one? The components I've got won't go together. Thanks, W |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Got the radiator out, heater hoses out, will get the rest of the front off the weekend and motor ready to come out. Also crawled around under a truck in the junkyard and got me a T5 for the build back.
