I've got to build a new floor in the 12x16 addition where we tore out the old hot tub and rotten decking. The redwood was okay but all the joists were gone. What I salvaged is all short pieces. I already figured ply/osb and 2x6's are going to run about $700! Ply is only $4 more so to heck with OSB. I hadn't thought of putting T-111 upside down for a floor...

The floor I did will only be supporting things I stuff up there. No standing/walking on this floor.

I paid a bit more than $38. It seems it's only the framing materials they have spiked the prices on. Finish grade stuff isn't so effected by the BS.

I have been putting off re-siding my shop. It currently has 4x8 8"oc fir siding on it. I have been thinking of going with metal siding to put an end to painting. With these high lumber prices I imagine metal has gone up as well. So I don't know.

The metal hasn't been effected from what I've seen. I stripped the shake roof off one side of the barn and put new metal on about the time I went missing, and had to buy four pieces for this project.

Concrete form. Trying to make a better transition from stone to concrete and give a better path back to the shed side the barn is moving into

$38 per sheet for fir is about what it was here the last time I checked. I also looked at LP Smart Siding for a little less.

I noticed the lumber yard I used to manage inventory is way down and I asked if it was intentional and was told lumber is just hard to get. They have a number of outages regularly. And that is the way of the new owners among their other companies as well even before the covid.

In winterizing our camper for last winter I found the fresh water pump no longer worked so I kept it in mind and now it's time to de-winterize it so today I went looking for the pump. Lands sakes alive. They hid that thing. Luckily the pump still runs so I had to track it down by sound. It's in a small hole under the cookware in a cabinet no where near plumbing fixtures. On top of that when installed they ran the four mounting screws down into the rubber mount so far the rubber closed up nearly covering the screws enough I could not get a socket on them for removal. I ended up using a dremmel tool with snake attachment and small cut off disk to cut away the rubber around those screws. It will be reinstalled better than that.

Yeah,, mine is under the counter top behind two drawers ,,and the divider between the two drawers does not allow enough room for my shoulders to easily get in there to repair the part that froze on me,.. so I had my brother do it for me he's smaller than I am.

This will be a real room of some sort - which is why we finally got the hot tub cut out of there: it was almost totally wasted space because we couldn't get the parts to fix it. Probably a summer bedroom for the grandkids or something? It's just weird because the floor will have to be structurally separate from the walls. It's tempting to have a couple steps down and make the concrete slab be most of the floor ....

T-111 was about $35 a couple years ago when I was checking into it. I would need 27 sheets to go around three sides of the pole barn plus a few more for the part that's taller than eight feet.

My smoker I built to it's on a trailer so I can move it around . I've been using higher temps lately 275° +/- seems to be working out well .

Washed the 4Runner and Impala. Cleaned up my shop some and finished up closing in the last end wall over a roll up door with thin tongue and groove. Cut wood for framing bathroom mirrors. I did the first one a few weeks ago.

Hope to get back to the truck next weekend.

Looks like yours does a great job! My brisket came out perfect... 11 hours and it fell apart but was still really moist... nice smoke ring and bark.

Oh man. That looks good.
I went to Chili's last week and saw they had brisket on the menu so I ordered it. What a disappointment.. It was a stringy pot roast lookin very small portion laid on a thick garlic pasted slice of toast. I'm afraid they don't know what good brisket is supposed to be like. I won't order that again.

Grilled T-Bone (no, not that guy!) steaks for dinner. CostCo was out of lamb, which was our first choice. Well, they had the ribs, but all that fat and bone for that kind of money is out of the question.

Yea it was really good, my wife is about 4 months pregnant... she texted me from work and said that baby has been dreaming about brisket all day long. Her and baby got there fill on leftovers at lunch. That made me laugh for some reason. I’m really picky about buying “bbq” of any kind from restaurants. Seems a lot of times there definition of smoked meat, and mine are not anywhere near in the same dictionary.

I only go there because the wife likes it. Baby back ribs are all I care for there but I thought I would at least try the brisket. I asked for corn on the cobb without garlic too. Guess what, stinking garlic butter all over it. Much to my displeasure most restaurants these days think they have to cover everything in garlic butter. I absolutely hate garlic! The smell makes me sick. Some folks love it. Even Sonic has a garlic butter burger now. errrrrrrrr !

Jim - If you ever find yourself in Pine Bluff try out Simplee's BBQ. They make a sandwich called the East 49th Street sandwich that is sliced brisket on a bun with provolone cheese, and onion ring, with bread and butter pickles. I treat myself to that when I have to be there.

I finally started removing the barn boards from the outside of the barn. I am going to work on the ends in the next couple of days. There was an old Vacuum milking machine up on a shelf so I got the skid loader out and was able to get it out from outside the building.

Congrats on another one on the way. We just had our 6th a month ago. I agree, once you are around people that cook really, really good BBQ, it's hard to eat at restaurants you haven't ate it at before. I love a good brisket, burnt ends, shoot, it all!
