Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
That's the story with this truck. First it was going to be a 427 tall deck, SM465 5 speed with NP205 and a D44HD front. That didn't last long. Then it had a VE 12v in it with a NV4500. Then a P-pumped 12v with a 47RH in it. Now a P-pumped 24v and a NV4500 with a dual disc clutch, and compound turbos. Plus, a entire different body, and axles from 2 different eras of dodges.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Yeah, I hear you there. It did almost get ugly because I wasn't feeling good and I was about ready to beat the door.
You may have your truck done before I get time to come out there. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you will.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Thanks! After the past couple weeks, I think I might get on finding the pieces to get my a/c going on it too. Having no vehicles with a/c sucks the big one!

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Just do what i do ......get a bigger beer fridge and if you leave the door open enough it cools the shop. It also helps to motivate the shop trolls to show up and help more.....lol

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
do you have some sort of lake or well nearby ?
you could allso use a swamp cooler , a friend of mine made its own out of a big ass fan and a truck radiator , he trew a submersible pump in the lake behind his house to circulate cool water trough the radiator and it cools his place about 10 degrees celcius on a hot day

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
swamp coolers are useless in iowa. the humidity is so high that your sweat doesnt even evaporate. it is misery. here in the fiery high desert swamp coolers can actually make you shiver. i still prefer the beauty of refrigerated air though.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
And right you are. I didn't get half done to this thing this weekend because I am waiting for paint to dry. Thank you humidity.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
An old mechanic once showed me his shop cooler. He took a truck radiator and ran his well water through it. With his huge squirrel cage fan it will freeze you out on 100* + days. But in montana we think it gets humid when it hits 25%

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
His well water must be super cold! A car radiator wouldn't cut it here.

It's about 50* degrees out of my well. The deeper you go, the colder it gets (to a point).
