Uhh...you mean you aren't buying the whole thing? Factory 4x4 wraparound windshield suburban?

You know what you must do...

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Hey thanks for letting me know. That burb has two unmolested gmc grills in the back. I'm not buying it but the power brake I took off but thought on it. It looked rough pulling it apart and not factory as far as set up inside. IHL1992 pulled one off a 66 k20. He has all original mounting hardware for it. If one of y'all want the grills lemme know and I'll see what they want and ship it for the price and shipping fees. TJ those lights looked decent. Yankee 77 model and just need a clean up. They also have a couple fleetside Barden bumpers too in good shape plus side trim on a couple trucks. Also seen some deluxe heater knows for an AC truck too. Lemme know and I'll make a list.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Finally got the front end done.....took my whole vacation from Fri-Tues, but well worth it. All new grade 8 bolts, new suspension, tow hook upgrade, sway bar upgrade and disk brake upgrade!!!

Will get the tires done and back on its own weight tonight, followed by the hub caps.

Thanks. They are factory 60-68 hooks and mounted with 9/16" grade 8 bolts, so they should hold whatever I want to drag around. I have the factory rear hooks also when I get to the rear end.

Also got the front spiral shocks pulled for you. Give me a few days and I'll get them mailed out to you. Rears will be another week or two... still need to pull the rear out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

The cross member and a-arms were donars from a members totaled truck. All the rest of the suspension was ordered new from Moog. The disk kit was a CPP master kit...I seem to be one of the few that got a decent kit. Was missing a tie rod boot cover. The sway bar and tow hooks were classifieds finds and the rims I sourced locally.

I have the original 63 crossmember sitting in my drive way if you need one to rebuild and swap. It saved me a lot of time by having the crossmember and parts completed and ready for install.

I got lucky on my hooks and paid $150 for the set. I've seen them go for twice that, but around $200-$400 seems to be the par depending on which models they are. The extreme bend hooks that are 70-72ish seem to be the most expensive. You have to watch also....the hooks should each bend outward towards the wheels. I see a lot of sets that are both lefts or right hooks.

if you have a moment can you snap a few pics of the center link that hold the tie rods cuz i think my gearbox is off, my center link dosent run str to the idler arm. i think the PO moved the gear box forward a bit towards the front of the truck for some reason i dont know and im using what i think arent correct hole location for it,thks

Ah man.....what a find. Yeah....definitely grab the next set. I look at every 60-72 truck I see in any yards looking for them. Large trucks also.

No problem. Can get them tonight. The outer two holes are the pitman/idler arm assemblies. The two inner holes are for the inner tie rods. I have a bunch of front end pics on the build thread for the stepside.
Check post #1028 But easy enough to snap a few of just the center link for you.

i got the holes for the pitman and idler arm ok, its just the center link seems to have a greater distance away the crossmember on the driverside then the idler arm does, as if the whole system is moved towards the front too much on the one side

Do you know if the idler arm is bolted in the correct location? My replacement from Moog looked quite a bit different than the stock one. Also came with a big bag of extra bolts and parts. But there are 3-4 holes in the same location. Any pic of you steering box and idler arms?

My center drag link is flush with the front crossmember and not far off of it....maybe an 1" or so just off the top of my head.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I figured out my rear shock situation. There is still some adjustments I need to make (longer upper bolts, cutting flats into the washers to they sit flat) and I need to cut off the old shock from the other side, but this set up seems to work.

Now all I have to do is replace the flywheel and clutch... and the wheel cylinders... and finish rebuilding the carburetor...

I used rustoleum white, hand painted bunch of coats, and international red, I thought it was redder than the original. In fact I think it is a sort of red orange mix. Same color as the tag c-10 bowtie. That's a long way of saying I don't really know. But I couldn't bear to have it too orange with a greenish turquoise truck color. I may change it to a brighter red.
