I don't see the problem it looks good to me.The paint looks good. I'm allergic to pushing sand paper but you are doing a great job.

Looking forward to the pics. Temperature is certainly good for painting down here, even if the humidity isn't.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Elpaso plating came thru again..awhile back i found another headlight bezel on Ebay for cheap...due to the heavy pitting I assume ..I mainly bought it because it had a perfect condition blinker lense that is clear as can be..my original 2 lenses are very cloudy looking..well I sent the bezel off to get replated and it came back looking like new....so now i have a spare if ,heaven forbid, I ever need one..
I'll be making a set of new lenses in the future...but 1st gotta get the truck on the road..
Before and after...

Thanks Zepp, Robert, and Robert ..

Robert, I really hated to start hammering on the tailgate...I usually make things worse when I do...
As I'm sure you know from your work, theres all sorts of deformities around the letters anyway from the stamping, but theres one less depression now..thanks again

That chrome looks show quality. You said your original lenses were cloudy. Couldn't you polish them out?

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Thanks Regan...they have done a outstanding job on everything I've sent them...well pleased...
Here is a comparison between the clear and cloudy lense...I've tried cleaning/scrubbing/polishing/and a assortment of ugly words.. but am having no luck..
Once you get the mold made ,its no issue to make as many as you want..I thought I'd make some clear and some orange..to see what looks better...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Started out this morning to do a simple little job...install dash panels and glove box...sounds simple ..right?...not so fast...I dont know who at IH had the job to install all this, but they need a raise...talk about aggravating...finally got it all mocked up...then remembered that the screw clips that hold the glove box latch broke when I removed them..that's why the glove box isnt closed...and what would a install be without a paint chip...yep right on the edge of the GB door...when I dropped it..dangitboy...
also stuck the gauge cluster in to make sure all my mods would clear the behind the dash parts..good to go there..also need some new bumpers for the glove box door..one of them broke when being removed..

mongo,
This is like McDonalds - I'm Lovin' It!

What color is the dash? That is almost spot on for the color I would like to use on my 67.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

What I did was use a paint called cast blast, by seymore paints..I sprayed a piece of metal and took it to the paint store..they shot it with their analyzer and came up with the formula for that color...it seems to have a little flake look to it..
And I added a flattner to it to make it a semigloss
Heres a pic of the mix label if you want..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Well I'm seeing RED... but in a good way..finally got some color going on..got the bed, tailgate, tailgate hinges, rear fenders, and running boards painted...
My temp paint booth worked pretty good..but I did have to change filters at the half way mark...
And I did have one run, I got it with tape, then put on several overcoats where it was...I'm hoping itll wet sand out...if not that fender will get a recoat...
In the 1st set of pics you can see how I did the "paint booth"..its all 4mil clear plastic..size is 16x20...
I set the fans under the shop door and blocked around them with cardboard, the filter boxes are just inside the booth...
Glad I decided to put plastic on the floor...

Looks great! Nice color, paint job looks really good. I forget what you said before - single stage? I assume that if you're sanding out a run.

Hope you kept good death fumes cartridges in the respirator too!
