Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
there is no way you could get me to paint my truck like that. Color isn't bad, but the grafixs are crazy.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
konokazi - Your truck is to die for. I'm definitely not a scallops and wide wihtes guy and yet I think that truck is SO era-correct! HUGE congratulations on an excellent job and for having the flat out full on chops to do it all yourself.
Man, I am truly in love with those chromed (I assume?) old Edelbrock finned valve covers with gold highlights - SO friggin cool. Last edited by Dan in Pasadena; 11-24-2009 at 01:04 AM. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I can get you a hotwheels trucks there are tons at my local walmart.
I just passed this bad A$$ truck 2blocks from my house at a paint shop. One of the guys said it came from California was all original with straight six, obviously that didn't last long, it has a new 350 and bagged on the ground. I like the original tires on it. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I bought it about 11 years ago it this condition with high hopes of doing it up. The structural welding is good, but the welding on the body mods is crap, esp the roof. I'll see it I can find anymore pics. I have it stored just sitting on a chassis I had kicking around from a 67, so its sitting kinda funny. the doors and hood are off my late 66

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
That rear suspension is certainly interesting. It appears to be a conventional coil spring trailing arm setup, but I've never seen a single leaf helper(?) spring mounted like that before.

That's probably factory. I know the 67-72's had a similar overload spring.

Here's my '65 that I recently acquired for $400. Came complete with 3 on the tree but without an engine. This pic is the day I picked it up. Will get some better ones later.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Here's a couple of mine. I bought this truck for $500 about 3 yrs ago. Orginally I got it for my dad and he didn't want it. So shooting the bull one day after trying to sell it and no one came to look at it. He and I decided to restore it. It was a mess. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of it prior to taking it apart. What a stupid thing to do on my part but didn't have much interest in it at first. Now we're getting much closer to the finish I really regret it. Here's where we are now:
Frame completely sandblasted and Chasis Saver High Gloss Black Fenders, Hood, Door, Grille, Bed stripped down cleaned up new patch metal where needed and ready for paint. Cab floor partial replacement Engine pulled, sandblasted, painted Cab, Engine compartment painted. Rebuilt Carb, New Water pump, New Interior componets, New Seat reupholtered & New Carpet, New sliding glass rear window, New Wiring Harnesses, Gas tank flushed, sealed, sandblasted and painted. New reproduction wood steering wheel, turn signal lever, 3 speed shifter lever new, glove box insert, Chrome door sill, New weatherstriping, new thermostat, Chrome valve cover, Chrome side plate, Chrome locking gas cap, Polished Stainless bed bolt kit, Chrome Bumpers, door mirror, New reproduction radio with Ipod hook up, New Seat belts, New volt regulator, horn relay, many many more little items. The plan is to have an authentic restoration with minimum change from the orignial truck. Example of my changes: Change of Color, Custom Wheels, Change of Color of interior, Sliding Glass rear window, Oak or Cherry Wood bed in place of Pine, Seat belts, stereo this truck didn't come with one, chrome in some places it wouldn't have had back then. Left to do: Paint Hood, Bed, Doors, Grille & Reassemble, Order & install truck bed. |
