Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
I stayed up waaaay too late last night going back to start at page one and re-reading the entire thread again. I had been keeping up with it by reading the updates, but by going back to the beginning it put it back into the amazing category that it should be in. Your determination, skill, vision and planning are awe inspiring . At times I think my project is alot of work requiring much forethought, but compared to what you have going on, there is no comparison.
Thanks for the fantastic detailed photos and write-ups!! Seeing the process of transformation is way beyond cool.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thanks guys. I do it all for you
mosesburb, your cummins project is nothing to scoff at. I don’t think I ever posted this pic in this thread: This is what it looked like when I brought it home from eBay (eastern Oregon). There's my old 69 stepper in the background. Within a week the Burb raped the stepside of all the suspension goodies (5-lug, discs, drop spindles, springs, lowering blocks, 17" wheels...). Factory big block, 2wd, 1/2 ton. Last edited by Frizzle Fry; 10-23-2008 at 01:48 AM. |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Heres the latest. Lots of work with not much to show for it. I've been working on the inner structure of the door. To give it some rigidity I'm using the stamped piece that normally resides in the front of a PS front door for the DS rear and the piece from the DS front will go in the PS rear. These are spot welded in place with about 25 welds each. So good drill bits are a must just to free them from the donor doors.
Since the rear of the doors are just a shell they do not provide a good mounting point for hinges, let alone a single hinge set-up. So these will provide a second layer and added support for the hinge mount. Another victim: Not so fun Freed: It took some fitting and trimming to get it to work on the opposite side of the door. Heres a test fit: |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Any reason you didn't just use some plate steel to fit on the inside of the door as reinforcement for the hinge load? Seems like a lot of work for a piece of rusty sheetmetal.

Looks like everyone is jumping on the 4 door band wagon! These are cell phone pics I took on the freeway today of 10+ 911's with 4 doors and Georgia corporate plates?

It was cool, I have always seen proto type cars in mags that are all covered up so you could not really tell what they are or what new changes were made. These were the same way but this one was the most uncovered but you can see the wing is still hidden. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Yep 10-12 I lost count! Their must have been some different body mods to each one because not one of them was covered in plastic the same way. This one had the rear wing covered were others had side doors, rear engine covers or front ends wrapped up so you could not see everything.
