Thanks, she might not be pretty, but she is my baby. I'm still trying to decide if I like the shortbed.

I had a tow dolly break while towing a car at 55 MPH, and a strap break on my trailer while towing a car. I also picked up 2 Bronco II 4x4 trucks in 2 days and strapped them down by the axles, one nearly got blown over by the wind (extremely nerve wrecking, seeing air under the trailer tires while traveling 45 MPH, new shorts were in order) and the other nearly rolled off the trailer on a curvy road (sway bars were later found to be damaged on the bronco in a way that made it lean very uncomfortably in turns). I don't take chances anymore. I might not be perfect, but I do my best for my and everyone else's safety. Oh worth noting, the long bed weighs 5400 lbs across the scales, the short bed weighs around 3600 lbs. Blew my mind, I would have figured around 4400 lbs at least. The weight of that short bed confuses/surprises me. I junked a old 81 F100 truck not too long ago that weighed 4575 w/o the engine. Id think that chevy would be close.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I think someone should take one across the scales and see for sure. 3800 seems to be more in the high S/T10 range rather than a full size truck.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Heres a pic of my new truck, all I have so far is a picture of it loaded up headed to the dump. Its a 1995 Z71 141,000 miles, 350, fully loaded leather everything. Broken interior driver door handle 305/70/16s, and a 14 bolt rear, and not a spec of rust.
Truck was 6520lbs going into the dump and 5220 coming out wtih 2 4x4x10s in the bed still and my 150lbs. 3800 is really hard to believe, I dont think that extended cab weighs 1200lbs.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...pictureid=4036 Not the greatest picture but here is my 99 classic just after I sprayed the bedliner on it. It's pretty much stock for now with 134,000 kms.
Tried to insert picture but ended up with link only.Sorry Last edited by cheford; 10-20-2010 at 10:14 AM. |

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
My truck in race trim with the skinny and fatties come in at 3883 with me in it. Its had some mild weight reduction, nothing major. Weighs 3678 with a 1/4 tank gas on its own.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Yeah, a short bed standard cab half ton 2wd is really light compared to the 4x4 of any regard. I have seen others cross the scales, not mine, but they were surprisingly light.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
if you don't like it don't post.
It's not ghetto thank you very much, we're all redneck around here and I like it. So again if you don't, then why post and waste space? At least it don't have dub dueces or some ghetto BS like that.

Cussindusty- Ah come on I know you have heard the saying "If you can't say anything nice don't say it at all", right? That goes for around here too. Let's get back on track.

I'm not big on chrome, but I really wish I had the patience to polish up my stock aluminum wheels like that. I love the look.
