it's on hold for now, looking to move into a new house with a larger yard to build a larger shop...lol....i'll post pics once i get at her again, but it probably wont be till the new year.

Okay, so now that my truck is close to being completed.....well maybe not. I'm giving some serious thought to running dual quads, and a set of Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads. Also check out these really cool four velocity stack style air filters. I was wish list shopping on-line at Summit Racing's site. Here what I'm looking at. I'm looking at about $2,800.

looks cool but i would use trottlebodies instead of the carbs to get a little bit more driveabillitie out of it .

will it fit under the hood ?

the last engine builder i spoke to warned me about the aluminum heads on a cast iron block. it's pretty common for the head gasket to go since the aluminum will cool faster than the cast. shredding the headgasket..what do you think about some cast heads?

My 400 has 'Double Hump' cast-iron Camaro heads that are basiclly the samething. But the aluminum heads will help give "the ring in the jewelry box effect"

You shouldn't have any trouble with head gaskets. Use the Fel Pro ones and I don't see any problems. We ran aluminum heads on our race motors and never had a gasket failure. Also most of the newer motors are aluminum heads on a iron block. Most of the gasket manufactures have solved the expansion problems that used to cause problems in the old days. I say go for it!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really don't want the cast iron heads for two reasons. One, anytime I can lighten up somthing that will perform, I'll do it. Second, well the looks of the polished aluminum heads is SWEET! But the real reason is performance. The heads I have on right now are stock heads from a 1974 350 and they just don't perform the way I would like.

great combo if you want you can buy the stuff and send it to me and ill test drive it for you i wouldnt be scared of the aluminum the problems of long ago are gone with quality product you should be fine

The combo of dual carbs, intake, and heads should give you a substantial power gain. Alot more than you have now! There goes the gas mileage (not that it was good to begin with)

hi cal, sorry to bother, but what was the measurement of the width of the rear-end out of the blazer you used?.....as you see from my post, the budget build im doing might need a more narrow rear end....thanks ...max.

Brian beat me to it. It's just as he said. 2wd is 58" &
4wd is 60", it does include 1998 also. If I had to do it over, I would have went with the 4 wheel drive.

The only other thing is if you are going low as in c-notch the calipers for the disc brakes will hit the box even with the 60" unless you are going to tub the box.
With the 15x7 rally wheels and 235-70 tire I had to use a 2.5" spacer for the wheel to fit.

With the 58", the calipers come un next to the stock leaf spring unless you run lowering blocks. I ened up using 2.5 spacers also with 10 inch wide rims. Again, if I were to do it over, I would use the 4wheel drive like you did and no spacers.
