You were right...just not really "driving" it. Can't wait to get the trans correct so when I push the gas it goes!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Have you checked both the fluid level and also the kickdown cable adjustment? Don't think it is the cable...but you never know until you rule out all the possibilities...

...was the torque converter full of fluid when you bolted it up?

I do not have a kickdown cable that I am aware of, maybe I am mistaken but the only thing going to it is the shifter and the vacuum. It is a TH 400 so that may be a little different than a 350? The fluid is full but I have not been able to let it warm up yet. I drained about a quart and a half out of the tc when I pulled it but surely it has filled back up by now after adding at least 5 quarts. Help!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I'm no tranny expert...do you have the vacuum operated or electric kickdown then???

Have you tried with it manually in low 1 to rule out that possibility it's not taking off in 2nd? Stock or higher stall converter???

The vacuum goes to the modulator and I have one electronic plug on the drivers side. I have tried low 1 and 2 and there is no diff. I am guessing it is a stock tc but I can't be sure. Tomorrow I am going to talk to the tranny shop at the end of the block and see what he thinks also.

Ahhh yes, the holy grail of all projects.....enjoyment. Thanks MB! The interior is a little ways out, but it will be done for next season. Taking it to the show this weekend for the first time to see what kind of response it gets.

It does seem rather agressive but it didn't before the build. No tach yet but it is around 2500 to 3000 I would estimate. When I get the exhaust ran it may sound like less rpms also.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Talked with a transmission guy today and the news ain't good. He said that it could be stuck in a low gear or the tc was not installed correctly and it is eating the shaft........if there is shavings in the pan then I'll know that it's time to pull the trans out.

Here is the latest. I had my truck at the custom shop to have my air ride checked out and dialed in. My brother called me and had a customer of his talk to me about the transmission, he said that it is the pump and that if I bring him the tranny he will fix it for $100. Nuff said.....the tranny will be dropped and he will get it soon!

I was wondering about that too. Since I can't make it this weekend, I'd really like to come down for one of the shows before they wrap up for winter.

The last show is next weekend, the 13th. It will crank back up in May so that isn't too long of a wait!
