it's been awhile since i posted on your thread but your doing a great job! i'm going to put bedliner in my bed when i get the passenger side wheel well tubbed! i like the way your dash is looking and nice work on the gauge cluster! if i can remember the person i was going to order my carpet from i'll post it later, i got a few sample pieces and then i choose what color best matched the blue i'm going to paint mine! keep it up and keep the videos coming!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today's post is for 66C06, who asked about my Emergency Brake set up.
I hope this answers your questions!

The entire assembly came from the donor 1985 GMC Sierra, 3/4 ton.

In this picture I am attempting to show you where I mounted it.
It is just outboard of the original truck fuse panel, height was determined by the dash extension and its relation to the clutch pedal.
Because of its position, I was motivated to modify my fresh air vents (but that is another story)


Here is where the mounting studs (pictured with the washer nuts just south of the fender mounting bolt) exited the fire wall.


For the side, and to add stability, I ran this bolt (also with a washer nut, which is trying to hide behind the cable) which I think was 4" if I remember correctly, thru a 2.5 or 3" roll pin which I used as the spacer.


In the Sierra, the dog legged part of the E-brake bracket was bolted to the d-side kick panel. With my fresh air vents, and my dash extension, I needed the 2.5 or 3" spacing shown better in this picture.


This photo just shows where that side bolt exited the cabin between the fresh air well, and the A-pillar.


As for the cable, I will have to post that, as I am still in search of a particular part for it, when it becomes available.
The cable set up is far different from the 66 to the 85, but I think I have figured out a simple and effective modifiacation to marry the two safely.

Ahhhhhh progress, such an elusive affair of the heart when it is skiing season !!

It is hard to split my time between the truck, and the short ski season here, as I would ski every weekend if I could, as well as add a trip down to Anchorage to ski as well.

None the less, progress is what it is, and this is mine.

So I started on my doors since it seems my order from Brothers of carpet and deadner is going to take a while to arrive. (which in all actuallity has not even shipped yet since it includes two new front fenders)
I tossed the d-side door up on the table to start with since it is going to need the most work done to it. You loyal readers may recall back about 18 months ago I did the p-side door, but it is going to get redone.
I digress....

First up: door locks that have the matching ignition key. I fear the supplier I used sent me the incorrect year. I had this suspicion when I was doing the ignition.
This photo is trying to show you the difference in the locking flange. The one on the left is the original, the right one is the new.
I had to shave 1/4" off the flange to shorten it to work right.
A minor inconvienence, but not a show stopper.


When I first started this build, doing a patch on this door corner would not have been in my scope of practice.


Now I kinda look for stuff like this to fix.



I have been tinkering with wiring and such also, running wires to the under dash console, but nothing really post or photo worthy in that. The end result maybe, but not yet.....

On a side note, we had to postpone our leave. We would have been down in Spokane on the 24th of this month, but now it looks like we are pushed back to the July-August time frame now.

I think what you are seeing is the incandescent light bulb hitting the metal, which appears in the yellow spectrum as opposed the halogen of the camera flash which IIRC is in the blue=white spectrum.

Well since I patched those door corners, I have been working on the doors proper as I wait for my order from Brothers to ship....still.
Ahhh the challenges of living in Alaska.... hehehehe

Just for context, this is what I started with, this is the door back in Oct 2011:


I am starting off with the modification I am doing to mount my 6x9 speaker.
Here you can see where a 4.5" speaker once resided, and my outline(s) for my cuts.
Originally I wanted to totally encompass the 4.5 hole into my 6x9 cut, but as I began getting aquainted with my door innards, I discovered there was structural reasons to push it further and further away from the hinges.


I pushed the top of my cut 2" into the door to give me the pitch for the speakers I wanted, and walled it in.
Some Coulter Trim and bondo to hide my bird-poop welds which I learned are hard as heck to gind down in tight little spots like this.....
