Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
We'll I have way too much to explain so il go for the short version. First off motor was yanked an heats were found to have a bad surface job so got that handled from a local shop (thanks VALLEY BALANCING) New ARP head bolts and double roller timing chain and all the normal goodies.
Got my Doug Thorley mid length Chevelle headers on as well! Had to do some major surgery to the factory v-8 motor mounts to get those to fit but they sound amazing and work very well in the space allowed. Add on a thicker true four core factory fitment Murray radiator from oreillys (200$ Also had to clearance my rad support and get the bigger factory hold downs) Cleaned up and re-painted the brake booster and master cylinder. Also pitched my factory 72 tank to the side and completely cleaned out a spare 70 cab tank coating the outside and sealing from any gas leaks so that my truck stays clean inside and through the fuel lines. Just in time for grafitti parade night (back in June) and the big two day show here locally which I took home this amazing honor of being 1-30 downright gorgeous other cars at the big event. (Still can't get over that)

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Well here goes my 2014 August-December update. Enjoy!
Was able to install my new headliner with chrome plastic trim. Used 3M Velcro doubles sided tape to bond it to the roof of the cab and it has worked flawlessly in holding it up through 110 degree weather down to the mid 20's here in California.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Was able to upgrade to LED bulbs by yitamotor on eBay and have used them successfully for several months since then. Absolutely excellent product and I run them in all of my trucks now.
This final one is from my great grandpas 1973 cheyenne c-10 longbed and shows a great example of the major inprovement and brightness of the bulbs compared to the dull 194's. They don't blind you. They're only 4$ total to complete one truck and you get enough for two. They don't dim unfortunately but I personally have never found a reason to dim my instrument cluster. Such an awesome little upgrade for the inside of your truck at night as they're a direct replacement so you don't have to add anything just plug and play.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
The rest of it would be fairly boring honestly just been driving the snot out of it and having fun looking under the truck and seeing no leaks whatsoever. Suppose Ive hit that stall point in my build where you just gotta wait and plan out what's next for it Ya know?
Though I must say that I was able to enjoy one hell of a trip to Reno's Hot August Nights with my best girl at my side. Drove all the way too and back (463 miles at 70 mph average for 14 mpg) for the event and even had a chance to pose next to Superflysteiny's Tootsie build. What an honor that was. Here's some snapshots of the venture and I plan on going again this year.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Absolutely Dale. And thank you Mike il be updating here and there but I'll be switching focus completely to the engine swap in my great grandfathers 1973 cheyenne c-10. We're almost finished but I have a ton of stuff to pile together that way all can enjoy the revival of his legacy.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Updating finally!!! New goodies that I finally put on, love the story on the bow tie as my father pulled some major strings and was able to locate a NOS grille bow tie from a dealership shelf in Michigan (not flint unfortunately) but nevertheless I was so stoked to get this for my bday last December but far too afraid to put it on till the rainy weather had left. But here she is in all her glory a proud centerpiece to NEWTYPE! Made a swap meet score as well and was able to nab a 90's air dam spoiler and zip-tied her (temporarily) into place and have got to say I absolutely love what it gives the front of my truck. What do Ya'lllthink??
ALSO!! Great Grandpas Legacy is finally up as its own build thread in the 73+ area and Papa-San is starting to get some SERIOUS goodies rounded up for it so you guys should swing by and check it all out. Thanks a bunch! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...89#post7084289

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Time for the new update everyone!! Guess where we went this past Saturday? How about rollin out to the Goodguys hot rod show and havin a blast in the trick truck corral with a ton of amazing pickups.
We rolled out of Modesto about 5:20 Saturday morning with my 72 and Papa-San in the 73 side by side all polished up and ready to show. We don't understand the word "trailer" because we love to drive our trucks and if you couldn't drive em then why have em Ya know? Topped off fluids and gas and hit the pedal we were in our way to Pleasanton which ended up as a 100+ mile round trip and a successful one at that for the 73's first big out of city venture. What a blast the day was staying till about 3-4 in the afternoon and taking advantage of the wonderful 80 degree California weather. We had many visitors stop in and listen to the stories of great grandpa Joe and dads time in the pickup and collecting a fair amount of compliments on her stock appearance. Was a proud day indeed. The 72 performed as always and even got a nice new Halon fire extinguisher for her troubles of dealing with me and my pops cleaning and detailing the paint and trim and chrome down to the bones of our fingers. Even scooted away from the swap meet with a good stock pile of neat goodies including emblems, parts, and toys. We'd also like to thank our dates for the day and their patience and willingness to get up early and join us in our silly truck games, we couldn't do it without their support and love!
