Have you replaced or checked the slack in your timing chain?

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
I replaced the timing set completely, but I think I might have found my flaw today.
When I put the motor at 8 degrees advance I've never really touched the idle to bring it up, so what I'm going to do is bring that idle up to probably around 1-1,500k and see how the motor likes it there and then take the truck for a spin and test it see what it likes.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Sorry for no updates lately guys.
Wedding planning, family dinners, shopping for wedding stuff, rain and cold weather A lot of excuses but real life, no the little small update is the truck is running great I got it warmed up on Thursday or Friday, and really messed with the timing set it at 8* advance and it runs like a dream, I think the carb is a tad rich cause when I take off it kind of sputters but the heavier I lay into it it wont, so I think it's just the initial so going to mess with that next. Other than that not much going on weather here in Texas is getting very random now and hard to dedicate to work outside in 40* weather, going to try and get the truck back in it's home this week/weekend that way I can tinker with it some and not freeze my butt off. Next project to do on the truck I don't know yet, thinking really work towards trying to get it on the road and be able to drive it a little to be able to enjoy it, probably going to start doing some maintenance items on it too tidy things up.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
glad it's running better for you. Hope the rest it pretty simple. Did you change your plugs, wires, cap and rotor when you did that long list of parts swapping on your engine? It might help if you haven't yet. Not that it will take care of everything, but it can't hurt.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Well I had put new plugs when I put the headers on, probably wouldn't hurt to put a new set. As far as the rotor/cap and wires I haven't changed those but I do want to change them, as that would complete a full tune-up and get it running even better.
I'm trying to be very careful with the motor right now cause we ran the head numbers and I don't recall them at the moment but short story short the heads on my truck are known for cracking so going to have to kind of take it easy on the truck from here on out until I can scoop up some new heads. Maybe next years birthday present to myself?

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Well I hope everyone had a good and Happy Thanksgiving, nothing much really happened went to my first ever autorama and all I can say is wow. I wish I had taken a picture of it but there was a twin turboed old school t-bird that won the lone star cup for autorama, and it was a beauty but here's some pictures I snapped this past weekend might see doubles and if you do I apologize. This was one of the baddest shows I've ever been to and I could of taken pictures of every single car cause there was mild to wild but I took pictures of the ones that stood out most to me.
Bare with me have to redo the links.

No problem man, there were a lot of good looking cars and trucks. They also had a mini swap meet but not very organized.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Alright guys so I'm back on the drawing boards again for rims, as y'all know I went to the autorama this past weekend well I saw a lot of these rims and I like how it was a mix of old school style but still had a semi new school to it. There called American Racing VN470 Salt Flats, I'm putting a link so y'all can see them. I want your guys opinions they are a fully custom rim so once there being made there's no turning back.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Thanks Duane.
I already have them priced out, and they would have to be custom made, so with that being said if I do decide to go with them I'm thinking a 20x7 or 20x8 up front and a 20x12 in the rear.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Sorry for a lack of updates over here fellas, just been getting ready for Christmas. Buying presents and all this good stuff.
Haven't really touched the truck much only thing I have done was put it back in the garage and "put it up for the winter" it's been surprisingly cold here in Texas last year this time it was still 80 degrees out. Hopefully come beginning of the year I can start working on the truck a little bit and get some odds and in's for the truck. I'm starting to miss working on the truck

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Oh, come on... it's not THAT cold out... Just put on a sweatshirt like I did...
... and a beanie, pajama pants under your jeans, gloves, and a long sleeve shirt under that sweatshirt... Just don't do it when it's raining.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
haha last Jan-Feb when I was working on my truck I was in a hoodie and sweatpants and I was doing alright lol
It'll all about the layers. That should be like a Oreo cookie commerical it's all about the layers Granted I have the spare cash to afford it, I'm thinking of getting some new gears for the truck, and I desperately need a new radiator.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite
Okay fellas, so I really need fingers crossed if you can.
Depending on what my weekend looks like and doing last minute shopping for my mom for Christmas I might be buying a bed for the truck this weekend, I've really missed it here lately all garaged up I want to drive it while we have cool weather out still so have your fingers crossed and hope that I can get the truck on the road! Plus I also need to fix a leak I have too.
