Thanks Tim, I have only seen those style clusters in the junk yard, are they worth anything?

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Another just listed on EBay. A genuine 115WB Highlander thats been tweaked and the original seat recovered. I think it would look bette if the roof had been left white.

They are very common being original equipment in about 75% of the 67-72 trucks built.

Worth is relative and a mint unit is always worth keeping for someone.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Tim, I'm currently upgrading my interior and noticed the build sheet inside the glovebox. It looks like mine was green plaid originally; it's a 72 custom deluxe that I bought a few weeks ago. It currently has a cream color covered bench seat and matching door panels, a black dash pad, black carpeting and cream colored visors.
I just ordered a green houndstooth seat cover from LMC for it.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

well send that sucker back and grab a plaid one from Tim (Truckseats) on the board! Restore that baby!

Interesting SPID - not listed as a package truck but it does have the PA1 covers.

Atlanta plant truck? Has the rest of the package options, recent discussion highlighted the possibility that Atlanta builds may have left the YG codes off the SPID. Got any pics?

The truck was originally from the Georgia area.

Clearly it is a very nice example of a Highlander and even has a legit rear chromed bumper RPO unlike so many truck out there.

Hard for me to see Houndstouth as an upgrade but then this whole thread (and my research) is about identifying and saving these trucks.

Thank You very much for providing such a clear image of the SPID. Having a full header would be better, but even so it is still very nice to have for my research.

Yes Jocko brought up another good point. This is probably an unnotated YG8 Promo Package truck given the option content and your statement its might be from Atlanta assembly. If an Atlanta truck your VIN would start CCE142A****** with "A" being the plant code.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Tim, it does have that VIN number sequence. The key chain I got with the truck is from John Smith Chevrolet in Atlanta. Pretty sure the truck was in Georgia most of its life. It was in Louisiana prior to making it up here to me in northern Illinois.
I had no idea this was a rare truck. I'll PM you pics of the complete spid and pics of the truck when I get home from work.

Maybe I will upgrade the seat to the correct material.

Thanks for confirming its an Atlanta assembly SPID.
Pretty sure we can say your truck was a Promo Package truck given the options.

While a correct seat cover would look great it isn't to everyone's taste and expensive.

Shoot me a price Tim. This survivor truck deserves the best. I had no idea it was so well optioned.

Explain to me the Promo Package please. Thanks!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is another pic of the Longhorn Spid I posted this morning with the truck pics. Looks like this one has driven its last mile. I found it on Facebook advertised as truck being parted. It lists it as been in the Memphis area. Tim, do you have many Longhorn Highlander Spids on file? You know the more I look at the pics something isn't right here. The truck look like it has 5 bolt wheels, is it the Longhorn cab on a different frame, and is it sitting on a 115 chassis?

I suspect a 72 highlander longhorn cab and doghouse swap onto a 70 c10 lwb.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Tim, your PM inbox is full.

Here is a pic of my complete SPID. I wish this truck still had the original engine, trans and interior but unfortunately it doesn't. It currently has what you see in the second pic. I'm starting to redo a lot of the interior. What does a new highlander white with Avacodo seat cover go for price wise?

The truck has a 4.8 LS motor and 4l60e trans with a 3.73 posi 12 bolt.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Member "Truckseats" is the Tim that sells the seat covers. He can get you a current price. I spent north of $600 to get one done with the correct scroll work - but that was when it was still kind of a prototype to SMS and Tim - it took a while to get all the kinks worked out. I suspect it is less than that now. Some of the sellers sell them for less (than whatever the current price is) but they lack the factory scroll work. So make sure you check. Tim's seats are great quality. Personally, I think you'd be really happy with a correct plaid seat cover - and I think it would look great in your truck!

Edit - forgot to mention, those are pre-72 door panels and doors. Something to consider in resto cost and whatever direction you choose to go.

Your truck looks great from the outside and I wouldn't do anything to change it. Attached are pics of my Highlander with its original plaid seat. This is what your trucks interior would look like in stock form.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I was looking at cup holder/ consoles on cup holders plus. Other than mine being dark olive, my interior is like yours. Which console and which color white is yours? The color looks pretty close and it fits the seat nicely?

!wouldn't say your hijacking the tread because they may be more members that would like a console and seeing the Highlander interiors are all parchment this is the color that matches. I tried to post with the proper color but it didn't so the color is 57T White and its near the bottom of the color drop down box. Link below..

These are the seat belts that are currently in the truck; are these correct for a highlander truck?

Not much of mine showing but I think enough so you can see the right color. The color is called parchment and its the same as the vinyl on the seats.

All the information regarding promo packages should be in the first page or two of this thread. When you read that first then check out this thread regarding Atlanta built Highlander trucks and that should answer your questions.
