Ken, I'm droolin'. Beautiful truck. Do you drive it much? Perhaps you can give us a photo of under the hood and an interior cab shot. Thanks

I drive it almost every day when its nice out but it is a third vehicle for me, I'll have to get an under hood shot and cab shots tomm. Still has the original hose clamps.. In fact I just replaced the original upper hose a few days ago. Still has T-3 head light bulbs in it.

Very nice and not a color combo you see very often. Is that a US truck you imported or a Canadian truck?

Re: Longhorn head count!

I'd love to have a 9 foot bedded stepside truck. I came across one on CL two years ago and it was in my price range, but it was too far gone for me to tackle at the time.

If my truck was lost for whatever reason, I'd really be after a 9 foot bed stepper.

I can't tell if this is a 9 footer or not but just ran across it on my local craigslist. How do you feel about dump beds? LOL (I am not affiliated with this ad in any way)

Wow. Makes you wonder what the rest of it looks like.
If it was in the shape mine is in, and ran as good, I would swap for that in a heartbeat.

The ad truck is a C/20 and clearly a 8' bed. The big wheels are interesting though.

The 9' step beds were factory installed only on C/30 (133"wb) chassis. But seeing as a C/20 Longhorn has the 133"wb frame a step bed (if found) would fit. The 9' beds are very hard to find and do have specific parts like the steps and bed sides as well as bed strips.

True that. They are very hard to find. I've seen 2 and that was 30+ years ago. Nothing since. I know it will never happen, but I sure would like to run into another.

Yes, very interesting, the 19.5" solid "single" wheel was last offered in 1968 as a standard option on pickups. No doubt this ex forestry truck was special ordered with the high ground clearance wheels. They are very desirable rims on '60 - '66 8 lug models!

Re: Longhorn head count!

Yes, have one up for sale on the Truck For Sale forum. It's a '71 Cheyenne C-20, big block, TH-400, p.s., tack and gauges, tilt, sliding window, cargo light, new core support, right inner fender other parts new. Very nice project, just needs put back together. Noticed that about 11 people are looking for one? I'm responding to this thread to help sell my truck. If interested contact me here, before it goes on E-bay, with a higher price!! Mike.

Re: Longhorn head count!

Just super low geared behind a th350. Really wanting to find an LS w/ OD tranny to swap into it eventually. I'm not sure how accurate the factory tach actually is, but it was wound up for sure! I think it read 3200rpm at 55.

-edit- So according to the rpm calculator I just looked at online, with 4.10 rear gears it should have only been around 2500rpm at 55. I'm thinking the cool factory tach is pretty much window dressing at this point!

Re: Longhorn head count!

Had to add mine to the mix! She is still a work in progress, but aren't they always.. 1972 C-20 with a 5.3L LS and 4L60e out of an '02 Tahoe. She will be my daily with all the modern conveniences (power windows/locks, etc.). Great seeing all the 'horns!

Re: Longhorn head count!

Here are some current pictures of my 72 K30 Longhorn. I've finally gotten it to the point where I can actually drive it. Still a ways to go to be considered finished.

Re: Longhorn head count!

I don't think I've posted in this thread, but since mine is a Longhorn (or at least a 133" Custom Camper" I might as well! I welded up the scars, er, the "seams" for the bed extension so they're not as obvious, but it's still the big bed.

Re: Longhorn head count!

XADom13, nice Longhorn!

Tomahawk30, very nice Longhorn! I love that black on black. Maybe you can find a D60 with 3:54 gears and a posi for it.

Davepl, I love your truck!
