Now hold on! YOu do great work too! and you're making excellent progress! You're just kind of set back with the your knee, and that will get better with time, besides, these old cars suck time and money! lol BUt think of yourself as an artist, plus bringing back something to make it YOURS, and there is nothing but time~ don't rush~which we humans tend to do instinctively! I tend to think of Gibbs on NCIS working on his boat in his basement, he'll never finish that darned thing!

LOL! I understand and just finished an episode of NCIS lol!! I have a Post-OP visit at 2 to see when i get to go back to work and so on! I like my work but with the truck its not perfect. Ive been honing my skills on the truck so i do better work on the mustang. The mustang was a "Perfect Timing" thing. The truck was running good enough to be a DD, my 2005 was having problems and was about to hit 100k, and i was able to break even on the loan on it. So I was able to get rid of my monthly payment, grab another running project, and get my dream car all at once. I am very eager to work on her....

I want to make her a DD/Cruiser

Speaking of which...It will probably be a while down the road before i get to it but what rear gears will be good to get pretty good MPG and still have some umph to make her a good cruiser etc

Ive heard the 2.80 gears with the 302 might not be that good but i really dont know. She is a 3 speed too

So I really like CJPONYPARTS.com. Dealing with vendors for sheet metal for the truck i always got extra charges and such and shipping always added like an extra $20. Not only did i get a good price on a long floor pan but the shipping was free... So I ordered a Passenger side floor panel today.. Im Really surprised it was only $33

Check out national parts depot (NPD) they have great prices and good stuff. I drove to their charlotte store and bought a bunch of stuff. I just placed another $500 with them.

O yeah!! I started her up today....Which just reminded me that it just doesnt sound right...A 302 Mustang with a quiet exhaust...OMG!!!

Yea, I do a lot of purchasing from CJ. Another place that I like but haven't done business with for a while is Virginia Classic Mustang. The only gripe I have with CJ is they will take your order and later email you to let you know the part is on back order. C'mon...This is the computer age. They already know if a part is out of stock as soon or before it gets to your basket.

Good morning! oh, my floor was so bad! I didn't know a whole lot about stuff like this; I was new at it. I should have replaced the entire length on both sides, but I did all the floors, including beneath the rear seat on the D side. Probably could have used the entire floor but that was above my pay scale!

Shopping for parts becomes a crazy thing~ keeping track where all the parts come from as I needed sooo many parts! My stang was in poor condition! I bought the majority from Laurel Mountain mustang; Kevin being the owner; I know him well. I believe that if you were to call him, and say you would give him most of your business, he may make better deals(as my father would say,"it doesn't hurt to ask"). These vendors know we need parts! You'll find you spend way too much time in front of the computer looking, trying to save that extra buck. Spend little time as possible on Ebay unless you have to! Try to buy American, though getting less and less! It kills me to think my American muscle car has a lot of Taiwan and other Asian stuff in it, but grateful that there are parts available! Keep up the good work!! dne'

looking under the car its hard to see much more rust so im hoping thats not the case. I need to remove the seats so i can pull yp the carpet to double check but i think the front pans should do the trick..

It's cool to see other guys restoring/working on old Mustangs here. Here soon, we're going to start restoring my Mom's 68 Coupe. It and it has the same stripes on the lower body above the rocker like the picture of the gold mustang earlier in this thread. It also says 289 GT in these stripes, and has 289 badges on the fenders. I thought 289s were done in 67? Anyway, this car was a V8 car for sure, with PS and A/C. We have all new black interior for it, new fuel tank, new rear leaf springs, rebuild kit for the front end, and a FI 302 and an AOD for it. The car was originally red, I have no idea what it'll end up. Keep up the great work on yours Jeff!

Have fun with the "early" and dates BS. My car is an early 65 (not 64-1/2) but it was built mid april 65. A lot of parts differ on early 65s than late, like my 289 has an aluminum timing cover and wp. Mid 65 and later all have steel/iron? Bunch of other little things too.

Funny/Disappointing story on this car. My parents purchased the car inside a home built enclosed triple axle bumper trailer. A guy my Dad worked with had had the car for over 15 years at this time. (This has been 15+ years ago) He used to be in Anchorage Alaska and he kept this car in the trailer the entire time he was up there. So basically this car sat inside a trailer for about 20 years. It was sold to my parents sight unseen as a 69 Boss 302. They got the car and trailer with all the other junk the guy didn't want for $1400. Low and behold when we got the trailer home, and opened it up, it wasn't a 69 Boss, but it still is a decent car. Not real rusty, not too beat up. It had a 351C with 4V heads which I traded to a friend for a bunch of go fast parts for the FI 302. I'll definitely start a build thread on it when we actually bring it in the shop. So far we've just been buying parts for it.

Also, don't forget about RockAuto.com for the typical wear parts. I got a rebuilt 2V carb for $175, there was a $50 core charge, so it could have been $125 but I'm weird and wanted to keep it.

I also just bought brand new upper and lower control arms from them. I've read that it's difficult to properly redo the upper shaft bushings, so I decided to buy new ones. $26! AND they come with the shafts/bushings/ball joints already installed. The shaft kit alone is $25 and the ball joint is $8-10. They're also the same part numbers I could find that most vendors sell for $50+ each. Should be here in a few days, I hope they're what I'm expecting...

Well found the first major flaw... The frame is rotted out on the passenger side just below the core support. So yeah that should be interesting to fix
