Re: Let's see some van love!

Funny seeing this thread. My Astro van I posted back in 2015 didn't fare too well. I let my nephew borrow it and he wrecked it ... twice lol.

Id still love to have another. I really like the late 90's early 2000's Astro vans. Getting pretty old though and any I have casually looked at were super high miles and pretty ratty on the insides.

Re: Let's see some van love!

I stopped to snap a couple photos of this ride. So cool and captures the era. As I drove away I thought how glad I was that there wasn't a for sale sign on it. I would have had to inquire. I can't imagine where I could drive that without people raising an eyebrow, haha. But if I could have gotten it cheap, I would have had to have it.

Re: Let's see some van love!

My shag party wagon 1979, CB-radio and other trinkets all over.
Couple of friends helped with painting this thing using a roller..
It's a Ford Transit 70's something, can't remember exact year.
4-banger & 4 speed manual transmission.
Home made spoiler & extra lightning do-hickeys that was popular during "van-time" in Europe.
A regular bed inside with of course "fluffy blankets and carpet glued on the walls.
The sturdy roof rack was perfect sitting with a hot babe in lawn chairs watching the sun go down.
Even a old style alarm-clock on a night stand nailed down so I could wake up after a tough night.

Re: Let's see some van love!

I remember back in the day custom vans were everywhere. Especially those painted up this theme & that, now I never see one.

An old friend had one of these micro vans, his was white. We were probably the coolest 3-4 guys in town when we drove it to High School

It would look better not slammed, the way Vans were run in their era. Not a flattering look IMO. Plus, gotta leave room for those sidepipes!

This one is lowered, not slammed, and it doesn't look bad.

Showed mine some love. New battery, now I can use it again. Battery died about two months ago, right after the warranty ran out. Lasted the full 5 years though.

Some like apples. Others like oranges....

I must have missed the the part about 'era correct' only.

I rode in a lot of those. Never had one. My friend had one with the trick paint that was mostly gold like these two. A couple other examples of cool customs

If you guys want to see van love, watch the movie C.B. Hustlers 1976. Beautiful custom vans and semis of the era.
