Re: My 52 GMC Build
Last night I finally got the box side trimmed up for tire clearance. Then got it temporarily screwed to the truck. The white chalk line is where the outside of the fender is going to be.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I picked up a goodie for my Dana 70 rear end, now I'll lay 4 lines of rubber when I do a burnout. But also help hook up when I want to go.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I know it's been a while. I got the box all together and on. Got all the bolt holes for fenders, which was not easy with the truck being so low and no hoist.
This is the front of box side support I made had one of the fender bolts go through it. Had to cut some of the front of box to clear frame and wires. There will be a bracket to hold front to frame. Also got the box top tubes welded on turned out very nice.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Time to clean shop out, ready to make running boards. So we pulled the truck out and WOW does it look good. This is the first time EVER I have seen the whole truck. There is no better feeling than seeing what you have built all in one piece out in the sun. Now I really cant wait to finish this and drive it!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I'm thinking of running the 16" rims that are on it for a while. I'm not putting spacers because I want to keep all that weight under the bearings. Going to get 245 or 255/60/16 tires before I drive it. There is 235/60/16 on it now.

Loving this build. Never thought I would see a dually and think hot rod, but you are nailing it.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
This is a pretty cool idea. 7.3 was a good engine. I used to own a company that built custom diesel trucks. Mostly the 6.4 but the old 7.3's have a huge following. We could get them up to 350hp. More could be had but it all boiled down to how much money the owner wanted to spend.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Wow SSABMUD That's a crazy twin turbo set up!! I'm hoping for 300 hp and 500 lb. Diesel Doctor is close to where I live. They said with my setup I should be able to but we will see.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Got the running boards finished and welded on. The truck will sit on them when it's all the way down. The frame is 3.5" off the ground, I came straight down from under the frame then out from there. I used 5/16" sst flat head bolts to hold the 3/16" aluminum checker on.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
On the second dyno run it made 1076hp with a broken header. If you want to see some videos my ex business partner made of it on YouTube, just search (TheDrsmoke) and it is called the farm truck. It was a custom 2wd (I said to get 4wd) short box we built for racing. Could not hook it up on the track so we made a street truck. Punch it on the highway at 60 and it would go sideways. Ah the good old days.

She is looking real good. What will be ride height? Going to be a bear to get a floor jack under. Mine is tough but not as tough as yours.
