Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Hang in there. You still have a lot more sanding to do. Even after it's painted. But it will be worth it. Keep up the good work.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

WARNING! This thread will slow down drastically for the next few weeks. I've got a baby boy on the way that's due on Thursday. I'll be on lock down for a while after that. I'll have to sneak out for an hour or two at a time, which we all know isn't enough to do much. I've also got a big job coming up at the end of April so progress will be slow for a while. Hopefully I'll have wheels in May and this thing will be on the ground.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

I have a 2yr old already so I know the deal. It's just alot less sleep and twice the dirty diapers.
The tank on ebay looks iffy. I'd rather have someone else guinea pig that one. I'll go the scrap yard route I think. Thanks

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Awsome build & excellent documentation so far. You mentioned the Baers were pricy. If you don't mind, how bad was it? Looks like 13" GT-Plus up front & 12" Track-Plus out back?

Also..... Could you take a measurement for me? I was curious of the dimension between the top of the frame rail to the top of the ART c-notch.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

It's a 13" GT-plus 2 piston up front and a 13" track plus single piston out back. The size is why I spent the money for them. I'm going to be running 20's on front and back and wanted them to be the rotors to be the same size. I looked for the Baer receipt but couldn't find it. If I remember correctly the set up with 2.5" drop spindles, steel braided flex lines, drilled and slotted rotors and adjustable prop valve was a little under 4K. Call Baer and order from them directly like I did and you may save a little. The pads are a direct swap with 97' Corvette pads when they ware out.

The frame above the rear axle is about 5.5" thick. After the notch there is about 1 5/8" of thickness left. There is still frame rail underneath and it seems pretty solid. The notch is made of the same thickness steel that the frame is. Each notch is bolted in with two 5/8" bolts and twelve 7/16" bolts.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

After I put the stroker in it, I'm going to drive the $h!t out of it on the track. I don't want this to be a work in progress for ever. It's going to take a while longer now to get it finished but when I'm done there won't be anything left to upgrade.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Great work...couple questions though.

What body filler are you using, and what brand primer do you plan on using? I am trying to save up for my body work right now and am looking for suggestions.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

I'm using Evercoat Rage Extreme filler. It's not cheap but it's the best I've ever used. The first primer is going to be a ureathane epoxy primer because the truck is in bare metal but has filler on it. The second will be Evercoat Slick Sand. It's a high build primer surfacer that will flatten out nice after block sanding. You have to shoot it through a 1.8mm tip at least because of the high content of solids in it. It creates extra work on flat panels but sands extra straight.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Congrats on the Baby Boy!! My youngest 2 are only 22 months apart so I know what is ahead for you.

I love this build. I have a 65 that I got from my grandfather when I turned 16 I have owned it longer that anyone else...I am the 3rd owner. Grandpa bought it used 7 months before I was born. My plan for it is similar to yours, stock outside, modified under the skin...

Again, great work.

Thanks Aggie. It might be a while before I'm posting progress again but I'll still throw things out every now and then. For instance, did chevy engineers design in a place on the inner fender for tools and hardware? What other purpose could this indentation serve?
