Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

I guess the reason, I cant move on from the Truck is because me and my Pawpaw were so close.I miss him so much :´/

Its just so hard to not be able to drive any of his Vehicles or anything

Time to move on, man. The truck is gone, and I can tell you that if I were the guy that bought his old truck, and you came looking for me and begging me to sell, I'd throw you a Kleenex, talk for a few minutes, and then tell you to beat it

Still miss getting in it and the little things i saw in his last daily driver that i learned about him, even though i never did know him. Rusted out tailgate and all its most likely long gone but i think the best thing for you is to let it go but that probably won't happen. Some people don't see the value and sentimentality in vehicles like i do but most people don't enjoy trucks like i do. Same thing happened to my dad when his grandpa died, his grandpa took pride in it and since my dad liked it so much told him he could have it when he died, but someone in the family needed the cash more than feeling like asking around if anyone wanted after he died so they sold it away too. Anyway i'll keep my eye out for it, headed to the salvage yard next week too. Also restoring a c10 with my dad now and just like my first truck i'll never sell it. Don't have any angst about it either i'm sure theres something else you can cherish about him rather than this.
Whats a LWB Chevy ?

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

I think tracking it down by legal means and respectfully checking to see if it is for sale is fully acceptable and even leaving your number for if/when they ever sell. That being said, I would watch out for getting my hopes up and consider building your own truck. There are a lot of great memories from doing that and you truly feel like its yours. Yours to make memories in and then pass on one day. Trust me, build it right and you will feel the spirit of what your grandpa felt when he drove his AND have the pride of building your own truck as well. Where would he tell you to spend your energies? Just a thought. Good luck.

I have read in other threads something about "beating a dead horse" is this the time to use it. ( <-- sarcasm). I'm pretty sure it should have been said by now.

That was something that would have been added separately. Maybe the dealer added it, but no likely. In my opinion, and many others they are ugly, so lots of guys ditch them. Don't be hatin on someone for trying to make the truck better looking!

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

I don't see anything wrong with trying to find the truck, it's just that when you find the owner be respectful and accept that its his property and he in no way has the obligation to sell. Don't be invasive either, iIf you do find it and he doesn't want to sell atleast give him your info and tell him you're the first one to call when it comes to selling it. Sorry i didn't reply i'm not getting email notifications anymore. Still haven't got to go to the yard but I might saturday; its the closest one to Denton.

I can see why he thinks people are ragging on him for this, although i don't agree with it; it's easy to be hard on the interwebs though.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

I also found a thread I made last year and bumped it just to see if anyone seen my first truck i owned a 1964 chevy truck but I wont bump it every week. Not tryin to buy it back just seeing how it looks. Maybe you dont really care for these trucks but only your PawPaws but if thats not the case Just get your own truck and build cause your wasting your own time not knowing how awesome it is to own a 67-72 chevy/gmc truck. Again like I said you build your own in the meantime and MIGhT just find your PawPaw's truck. NOW GO MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN!!!!

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

Come on guys .. he's 18yrs old and just wants to find it. He has a genuine passion for the trucks, it's obvious to me .. and I'm not sure if you have seen other posts on the Craigslist finds, etc. He is considering other trucks. He has just gotten old enough to appreciate what maybe 5-7 yrs ago didn't mean as much to him .. that's all.

When I grew up (I'm 39 btw) My Pops had a 67 RS/SS Camaro, Bright yellow with a black bumble bee stripe and yellow deluxe interior. 327/210 4speed. I look for that car every day .. BUT, I know the odds are against me.

He's new to the board, he's just searching for information and friends to help him out. Not someone to bust his balls. My thoughts are if you don't like the thread, .. unsubscribe (?) .. just sayin. Cut him some slack .. ?

I watch this tread just in hopes maybe someday he'll find it. Not to drive home the point it's unlikely he'll find it. He also posted in the Photoshop section for someone to help him find a blue GMC with a white top for his desktop wallpaper. How many of us have our favorite truck on our dekstop wallpaper? He's one of us fellas.. GMC or not, Pawpaws truck .. regardless. What if this was your son? Would you motivate him and help him look for it? He could be looking for a Civic or something like most 18yr olds.. Let's help him learn about these trucks. That's what the board is all about. Keep kickin him in the balls and he'll leave. ..

I have the truck and am tearing it part.

Just joking. I think you need to let it go. It is not yours now but the owner's. I kind of understand since my grandpa had three old trucks on his farm and we used to pretend that one day my brothers and I would get them. But you need to move on. It is only a material possession. When you get older you will realize that material possessions do not love you back. They are just objects that rust, break down, etc..

However, good luck in your search.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA

Thank you CC69Rat,
And Yes I am very Mature, it may not seem like it with me beating a dead horse.I know its annoying for me to keep adding to it every so often though
Simple solution just unsubscribe the Post and BAM you wont get bothered by it any longer, that simple. To my comment about Disrespectful Adults on here, Im talking about the Rude comments at times. We are all on here for the love of old GMC/Chevy trucks.I am on the search for my own and at the same time, looking for my Grandfathers. If you were in my position Im sure you would be crazed about finding it as well.I maybe only 18 turning 19 here soon, but I am well mature enough for my age.Im not a spoiled brat, who disrespects Adults.Im sure if you all who tell me that its Beating a dead horse or etc, if you sold your Truck and then went OHH Lord, I shouldnt have sold it.Im sure youd be looking for it as well

SO to my conclusion to this,I apologize to people who feel annoyed by this thread, Im just a Guy looking for a old truck that meant a lot to him.Battling Depression, and other things.I turn to here for a feel of Comfort, knowing there is people like me out there that loves old Trucks

Thank you and God bless
