Re: 72 k/20
I'll post a better explanation soon.Ive still got a ton of grinding and metal finishing to do and the welds aren't nearly as gnarly as the camera makes a few of them look.(that's what they all say right?) The floor panels on both sides required a fair amount of tweaking as you can see, but what else is new?

Re: 72 k/20
Nice K20 and great work on it so far! It's getting really hard to find a decent K20 to start with anymore!

Re: 72 k/20
Thanks guys! It's coming along slowly but surely. Still lots of loose ends. So as you can see I swapped the front fender even though I straightened the original it wasn't in too good of shape at the lower rear corner so I elected to use another fender I had stashed away. I scored the set of doors in the last picture from my neighbor for $20. The driver has got a very small amount of rust (and I mean small) in the lower rear tip but otherwise they are straight and rust free. The green pic is for Russ. Unfortunately my father in law robbed the mirrors but you can see where the holes are. If you'd like I can take some measurements. I'll update some more over the next few weeks as the rear metal work comes together. I've also gathered up a very nice set of olive '72 door panels from Pete and I got really good oe black steering wheel for it as well. Need to find a reasonably priced 4 speed tilt column before it goes in.
Pete: If your gonna be in town let me know maybe we can work something out. I need to get those nl2 parts from you. Kevin: Yep she's come a long way pretty slowly! I'm not sure what I'll do with the doors yet. They aren't 72's so I can't decide whether to slap them on there or not. I'll probably sell either the orange set or the ochre set once I decide which one I'm gonna run on the truck.

Tyler ,If you could take a few measurements for me that would be great and take a pic with a tape measure laying on it would also work. Thank you very much. Russ

Re: 72 k/20
It's been a while since I've updated but I've got the ole beast running like a champ. New fuel pump, carb rebuild, and full tune up and she screams. I've been driving it around pretty frequently over the last few months and it's a running son of a gun. I replaced the driver side brake caliper and flushed the whole system. It runs and stops pretty nice. I don't believe it's a factory spec 350. From about 5 mph It will burn the rears off all the way thru second
I haven't done much on the body this summer. I've been in the middle of getting a new house finished up and my family will always take precedence over these old trucks. It still needs can corners and rockers finished up but I'm gonna pull it into the shop this winter for a full tear down to the frame, not gonna be a full show quality resto but a nice straight driver. I acquired a hydraulic clutch setup from an 80s truck and I've got some other things in the works. I'll get a few a few pics up soon.

Re: 72 k/20
Pics incoming!! I've not been working on my K/20 much in the last year (bought a new house, had another kid, work was busy) life got in the way. However now that things are settling down some I'm gonna get back at it. I've got it worked out where I can keep the truck in the shop at work long term... you guessed it I'm driving it to the shop tomorrow evening. From there I think I'm gonna pull it all the way down and build it back up. I didn't quite finish the metal work so that will be first priority. From there I'm gonna clean it all up paint the frame and drive train, hydraulic clutch, new springs, shocks, gonna center the 14 bolt with new perches, etc. basically I think I've made the decision to more or less go thru the whole thing. Last summer I did go thru and tune the motor up and it does run and stop very well. I also replaced the turns signal switch and got all the lights working as they should. Here's some pics of how it looks now.

Re: 72 k/20
Thanks Kevin, it has come a long way. I drove it to the shop today. About 15 miles. That's the longest I've driven it at one time since I've owned it. Mostly I've just been putting around the farm in it. It did really good, ran flawlessly.
Here it is in its temporary home. More pics to come in the coming weeks. Damn iPhone posted it sideways

Re: 72 k/20
Here's a few battle shots from this evening. The first is from yesterday afternoon when I started tearing it down. The rest are progress as of tonight. Hope to have the cab off and on the stand by Friday. Next week I hope to yank the drive train and begin fixing the frame up and getting it ready for paint.

Re: 72 k/20
The back half is real nice... the front especially by the steering box is a bit of a mess. Mainly just a Half ass crack fix. I'll have better pics of it after I hit the frame with the heated pressure washer.

Re: 72 k/20
Yea Pete, there was so much crap in there when I first brought it home, bullets, 20+ year old pvc cement, old beer cans, and a whole lot more junk.
Got a good bit more done over the last couple days. Gonna head to the shop tomorrow morning to use the heated power washer to clean the frame and drive train. I'm gonna pull the motor next week and begin working on a few frame issues next week.
