Congrats on the "expert" welders pi#*ing this guy off. He knows what he is doing and some people can not accept the fact things can be done in a different manner and be as safe or safer. I hope he continues to show what he is doing to complete the build.

Here is a quick picture of the bed so far. Just to make it clear to everyone, I was never pissed off about any comments about my welds.

I'll post more pictures tomorrow. I still have to finish up the weld and metal finish it, followed by a quick touch up to hide the seam. There will be no bondo needed.

That's pretty awesome! You cut the external welds down to 1 per side and saved a ton of post weld finish work. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

So far I save 19' of welding doing it this way. When all said and done, I avoid 26' of the 32' of weld. If I didn't have a rear side marker light, I would have put the rear weld seam at the very rear corner. But I had to move it 2.5" forward to avoid filling a hole from the light. I will hammer form a new recessed hole for the light.

Yes, I removed the center pocket on the bedside. The shortened bed front looks factory.
