Re: Chop Tops ???
Custom, different, personal, sometimes cool, sometimes bad-ass, taste, to get you to ask this question. lol
Some people love to have original restored trucks just like some people like original restored '32 Fords. I hate both. Let me rephrase.....I respect and admire both when going down the road but would NEVER own either. Tons of guys think a 600hp 496 in these trucks is flat stupid. I disagree. This is why the hot rod world spins in so many different direction. Original, race, pro-street, resto-mod, custom, rat rod/panita'd and on and on. |

Re: Chop Tops ???
Thought, I drive a standard cab truck all of the time and I want something that is unique and different. The chop top is a low-slung look that has a taste of the early rodders era and there will be many that do not like it, however if done right you cannot walk away from it until you look it all over. Even the most critical person has to look twice. You know you will.

Re: Chop Tops ???
If it is made of metal, ANYTHING can be done!!! Would be far easier though to sell the chopped cab for $$$ and buy a different original cab.

Would I own a chopped truck? Probably not, I'm 6-4" and a stock cab is tight enough. Do I like to look at what others come up with? Heck yeah! Posted via Mobile Device

Man, if you started with pic #1 and ended up with patina and original look shown in pic #2 you have worked your azz off and my hat is off to you and your skill level.

Re: Chop Tops ???
IMO why would you mess with the perfect body style? 67-72 are timeless!
I hate putting up the hood of my truck at car shows because it takes away from the beautifull lines of the truck.

Re: Chop Tops ???
I'd open my hood because I've put a lot of time in that area, and there are millions of smooth body lined 67-72's around.

Re: Chop Tops ???
This is where the personal taste comes in. Sicklajoie likes it but I think it looks like a big fat dude with a tiny heads. lol No wrong answer though. Just taste. The black truck is sick in my opinion. I love the chop and the slant forward of the back window. There is actually a ton of stuff done to it.

Re: Chop Tops ???
I agree...and the black one, although, has a ton of work done, is horrendous.....leave these body style trucks stock.....the one in raw steel looks good, but its still a chop which I don't like.....all this has been my 2 pennies, that's all.....

They also tilted the back of the bed forward to match the cab... I think it looks stellar! But again, its all personal opinion.
