Thanks bro...I appreciate the love!

Hahahahaahaaa...don't worry bro. I'm an Autometer gauge man. And if not Autometer, it'll be some sort of antique-type gauges. Also guys, I got the 6L80 tranny too. This thing is massive.

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
Any updates?
On the gauges check out NVU (New Vintage USA). They have some really cool gauges and none of them are digital. |

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
No big update guys, but I just got the motor last week. It's a brand, spankin new LY6. The same as an LS2 except it is an iron block. I had to get this so the 6L80E can run properly. It has a 58 tooth reluctor ring. The LY6 is what came in the Trailblazer SS. The only difference in this from the LQ9 is the O2 sensors are on the inside of the block on each of the sides instead of on the top in the valley pan like the LQ9. Now, I could have run this with an LQ9, but it would have been harder to tune and stay tuned and would always be throwing out different codes from my ECU. I also have a few more of these blocks for sale if someone wants one. See the for sale section. Now, that I got the motor, I will start mocking up the motor and tranny pretty soon. Well, at least that's my next step hopefully. I got the L92 heads also, but need to send them to the maching shop to get ported and polished.

Very nice.
Off the wall question. Do you have a build thread on any forums for the '72 Chevelle that you have? |

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
Yes, I do...on Lateral-g.net. It's my second build of my Chevelle. Sorry guys, but the Chevelle trumps my C10. LOL!! That's another reason for the truck moving so slow. But, I'm actually further along on my truck than I post. I'm waiting to get to a certain point on it before I won't let all of the goodies on the truck out of the bag, like the frame I got being made for it. Here's a pic of my Chevelle frame being built and the 20x13 HRE's with a 7" lip on a 345 tire just to show off. Lol!!

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
67cheby, wait until you see the truck frame. I trashed the 3-tube idea a long time ago. The new frame will be outta this world. It's going to be CNC built like the Chevelle frame. Also, the 22" HRE's I posted earlier in the thread may get scratched too. I may go down to a 21" wheel an go wider. I got something sick up my sleeve. Stay tuned.

the LY6 is actually not the same as an LS2 but does have the same 6.0L bore and stroke. There are several differences including VVT technology. According to GM the LY6 (genIV motor) was designed as the next generation LQ4. The LS2 was more the next gen LS6. And actually the LY6 never came in the TrailBlazerSS, it came with an LS2/4L70e combo for all model years ('06-'09). And no and yes... the knock sensors on a LY6 are external not inside the block...and yes, are on the sides of the block just above the pan. If you're getting the L92 heads ported and polished to boot... you must be making a fire breathing monster! and PS....not trying to yank your chain here...just clarify any misinformation for the benefit of all.

Re: Introducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
No harm, no foul. I'm not a sensitive dude at all. And no, I surely don't know everything. It's good to learn. I had all of the details scrambled up I see. But yeah, the motor is gonna be suped up a little bit with a nice Comp Cam. I can't drive just a motor that runs and goes. I have to have a little bit of "GO" to it. My Chevelle motor will have about 560 hp. The truck not so much, but I'm aiming for about 475-500 hp. If some guys would like to see it, I'll start a build thread on here of my Chevelle in the other section.

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
5.7 and 6.0 are the liters of the engine. 350, 396, 454, etc and so forth are the cubic inches. For example, my Chevelle engine is a 6.0 block stroked out to a 408 cubic inch. I think a normal 6.0 is displaced at 360 c.i. or 370 c.i.... something like that. Liters and cubic inches.....I was told that they are the same units of measure, just cubic inches being the older way of measurement and liters being a more modern measurement. Don't know if this is true or not.

Re: Intoducing "Project...Oooh Weee!"
a 6.0L is 364ci...and the difference is going from US "cubic inch" vs "litre" = metric standards.
