Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Started off by pulling starter and replacing a bad freeze plug, then adjusted my shirt lever, then replaced my leaking electric fuel pump , but the new one would not pump , tried it 3 times old then new... old pumped but leaked, new no pump.

As the truck stands now this is the only thing that I know of ,keeping it from being my daily driver.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I fought with my in-cab fuel line for a couple of hours. What a test of patience! I got it shortened and re-bent around enough to work but I'm not happy with it. I am going to try and bend a piece of copper wire around to my liking and then use that as a model for the tubing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got up too late to work on the truck (garage too hot in the afternoons) and I needed to patch a screen door anyway so I just cleaned up the gas tank and seat bolts.

I had one break off and it seems I've lost one so I found what I needed in dad's stockpile.

The "Evaporust" is pretty neat stuff although I prefer "Krud Kutter" (phosphoric acid).

Cleaned and repainted the alternator using Eastwood rattle cans. I don't know if it would work at a concours show but looks alot better then when I took off the truck. I guess you could call it minor detailing.Name: IMG_0401.jpg

Mator that engine is really detailed and I bet it runs great also and is
Beautiful with all those many reflections one would need some really dark sunglasses to avoid eye strain. The coloring is terrific as I can imagine when someone asks to see the engine and when you open the hood all you would hear is WOW or Awesome!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Put the new 3 bolt round stock mirrors on, and my new armrests, yanked out all the A/C stuff to get new vintage air system sooner or later, and ready to put the new wiring harness in. Rebuilt the A/C control levers and put in the new chrome ventballs and painted the housings to match the rest of the interior and put in new defroster vents as well with all new vent ducts to boot!! Tomorrow going to put a new trans pan gasket and filter and a new tailshaft seal to try to stop a nuissance tranny leak I have had. Been a busy weekend for me!!

Are you replacing the defrost/heater/AC duct hoses too? Why I ask is because I just recently bought some replacements from AutoZone, http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=80248_0_0_ I got this info from a board member on here. I know it's not OEM but cheaper than what LMC is selling. Just a FYI.

That's movin', it would probably have been close to that if it wasn't for the 3" of grease incasing the whole motor. Wish I'd taken a pic, dang thing looked like it was salvaged from the titanic covered in barnacles.
