Re: My new K20
Wow Tom! Very nice work. You sure you didn't swap engines on us super quick? You're going to be winning awards as soon as you take her to shows.

It is a lot of fun and a lot of work gathering the items to get it back to original, or as close as I can. I look forward to having the complete compartment done as well as just the engine. I'll keep SEPT in mind Steve and hope I have slowed down on the cluster business at least for a short time. Very busy now with it. Take care, Tom

Re: My new K20
Finally, it has all come together and the big red dial hubs are installed. I am very pleased with how this all came out. It was due primarily to the help of Pete (DeadheadNM). I could not have done this with out his help. The hubs are awesome and you can turn them from free to lock and back just as easy as turning the knob on a gum ball machine . I am only missing one Sicer emblem for the dial to be 100% complete. Not sure if they were suppose to be there but I like it with the Spicer emblems.
Still addressing some under hood details. Carpet is coming this weekend. That is going to be a nice addition as well. Stay tuned... Take care, Tom

Re: My new K20
Hello all,
Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend. I have had a little time to work on the K20 this weekend. The weather here is very hot and dry and will knock the wind out of your sails real quick but it does not hold me back to much I recently scored a correct 4x4 dip stick tube and stick as well as a fuel line from carb to pump. I want to thank a very nice member who knows who he is for the valve cover decal. It made all of the difference in the appearance under the hood in my opinion. I also have the plug wires installed with the correct wire looms but need to trim the wired down some. They are a little bit long for my liking. I am going to wait until all the work is complete on the engine and it has fired and running OK before I place the fan and shroud. I do not want to risk breaking the shroud by working over it and it is actually much nicer to climb in with both feet with out the shroud and fan in the way. It should not be much longer before it is ready for some miles. I am going to put in the new carpet, chrome t case handle and do some detail work on the trans shifter and shift boot and rings. After that, I plan to remove and paint the inner fenders and core support. I only wish I had a shop so I could do more at once but then again, it may not be back on the road for a long time. It may be better this way Take care, Tom

Re: My new K20
Nice work Tom!
Just a thought, you might consider adding a stainless cowl screen to the "to do" list in order to keep leaves and other debris out of the vents and the cab. I've been really pleased with these screens and have painted or powder coated them.

Re: My new K20
Thank you for the kind words everyone. Thank you Pete for the cowl screen suggestion. It is funny you mention that because I do notice the trucks here that sit out doors for a while will get a cowl full of pine needles and other debris.
Stay tuned for more exciting changes. Take care, Tom

Nice truck Tom, as a recipient of one of your tach dashes I can say that you've made many people happy with your work and it's nice to see you enjoying something for yourself...
The people willing to help you out is a true sign of how you've impacted others. Enjoy the truck, it's beautiful! MOD (If I could help out with anything I sure would but it's looking like you have it covered)

Re: My new K20
Again, thank you all for the kind words. Thought is was time for an update.
My time has been busy with other obligations lately so it has been a slow go. The K20 has fired but not happy with the carb performance. I was not getting a shot of fuel through the accelerator pump. Instead of pulling the lid for a new pump rubber, I elected to just rebuild the carb. Good thing as it was pretty ugly inside. For the short while it was fired up, it did sound real nice with no exhaust leak which was what started all of this in the first place I also removed the floor mat and very impressed with the condition of the floor, especially at the kick panel area. It is very solid. Pictures at 11 Take care, Tom
