Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
JMHO, but i think you should go repop. Any thing you buy on the east coast is going to have rust, and eventually rust thru on your new paint. And, i would still waxoyl the in side of it.

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
My concern with repop is that I hear often they don't fit right? Do you know this to be true?

But, at the stage your at, anything should be able to be made to fit right. Things can be moved around, just a thought.....

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Cool Blazer, what paint are you going to actually put on it light red or the hugger orange?

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Not sure. I'm not sure the difference to be honest. In the paint chart for '71 turcks - http://www.classictruckshop.com/phot....php/photo/118 - there is no Light Red. So I have nothing to compare Hugger to. Will probably go with Hugger I think.

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
The body work is well underway. I think they're ahead of schedule which is awesome for my timeline, but sucks because I have to come up with the $$ that much sooner! Oh well. It's going to be a CLEAN truck. They welded new metal into the holes in the sheet metal, pulled and/or filled all of the dings, dents and dimples, and trued up any bends. It really looks good. Some pics from today's visit to the body shop…

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Dusty
did you find a tailgate? I picked up a 69' longbed today that has a decent gate on it. Not all bent up like most but it does have one small hole on the outside and one or two on the inside. Richard

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Sweet! NO I haven't found one yet. Would love to have a look at yours. Is it rusted through at all? If it's solid, I should be able to use it. Do you know for sure if it will fit a '71 Blazer? I'm guessing the only thing it would need to be compatible is the strip on top for the hatch?

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
I will go out tomorrow afternoon & grind the paint off just to make sure it is not to bad or something covered up by paint. I will post up a few pics once I see what it is.

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Dusty,
After grinding the paint away I don't think this one will be worthy of your Blazer I have added a few more pictures of it. I have repaired worse but.......well see for yourself. I think I may go ahead and lop the back of the bed off and make me a tailgate bench like ceeten did if you don't want it LOL

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
I don't know. It looks a heck of a lot better than the original that I have. You don't think it's salvageable? It is straight? Is there rust rolling around inside of it?

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
OK let me know ASAP because my parents will be in Fruitland this weekend tending to some things at my grandparents' home on St. Luke's Road. I could have them get it from you while they're there if you think it's in decent enough shape.

Re: Project OBS (Orange Blossom Special)
Progress is slow going, but some progress is being made with the body work. They had to realign some of the panels that didn't line up just right, and filled lots of holes, dents and dings, etc. THey got the doors done a couple days ago. Were able to salvage one of my original doors, as well as one of the doors off the new truck from VT.
