Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Dropped off a pile of parts to be phosphate coated (Parkerized) just like GM did. Hood hinges, hood latches, door striker plates, 72 front hooks, bags of bolts/screws, tie rod bracket, etc. For these parts it's an authentic redo that's cheaper and more durable than powdercoating or painting. $180 for the all shown to be cleaned, bead blasted, and Parkerized at a local facility that does 15k gun barrels monthly for the Ruger Co.

Great idea, post up pics when done. I want to have my m/c cover done....heck, maybe even my non-extreme bend tow hooks

Will do! For now, here are pics of a used door striker I had re-done in NM (pardon the finger prints - the finish is actually nice and uniform). I was so pleased I actually re-parkerized a set of NOS strikers that had shelf ware for use on my K20 resto. You wouldn't believe how good the hood hinges and bolts look - honestly, they appear brand new and the hinges work beautifully cleared of all that dry, old lithium grease.

For brackets and bolts that get wrenched on it's the best way to go - good to do pulleys also.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

I put in my heat/sound damper and laid the front carpet in place. I still have a lot to do with it like find all the bolt holes, shifter boot, seat belts, door sills etc. It will take me a whole day or more to get everything fitted in there. Oh and I did my roof rail seals to.

To tell you the truth I did not know how it came from the factory. So I thought it would look better with the carpet folded over the edge and glued down to the vertical wall. Then I cut it along the floor line.

This is a much better looking idea. What brand carpet kit is that?

GM left that vertical part of the floor uncovered - done right like yours it does look better IMO.
