Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Here is my '82 diesel. I got it from my father-in-law about 2 years ago. I was used as a delivery truck for his shop, hauling all kinds of parts and machines that they built before I started there. They parked it and it sat for a while. When I got it, it had a bad water pump. After I fixed that I used it to go back and forth to work and hauled my construction tools around.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
It's not really what many of you would consider to be a work horse because she will be seeing some show time over the next couple years and has seen a few shows this year already.
It's my daily driver, pride and joy. I make sure she looks good, but I haven't forgotten that it's still a truck. Tow-package, bed liner, rubber mat, and tie down hooks were added inside the bed.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Heres a few of my newly acquired beater. Its already proven itself, and with a better blower motor I had the ac blows ice cold! All in all for 247 bucks (including 10 gallons of gas) it has already paid for itself.

Here's my work truck I use to drive deliveries every day. I put on 150-250 miles daily.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
The 78 3/4 4x4, just use it mainly for moving dead cars around the yard. With th400 203 and 4.10 gears she just chugs on along. needs a cam pretty badly though.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
The work'est truck I have ever had... 1978 Chevy K30... 2wd body [hence the body lift], and the WHOLE drivetrain was origional... 4:56 Dana 44 front, 4:56 14 boltFF rear, 350, TH400, NP203... and the plow was origional to the truck from the dealer as well.

I've had 1 or more K30's in my drive continuously since 1977. I currently have 2, again. Your truck is like one of my old 1/2 ton plow trucks,(It is an 1980 truck in pic), in that if it is a 78, it has many parts on it that are not 78 as seen in your picture. Here you go ... either hauling trees or just a big barrel... for the haters on lowered trucks.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses
Here are some pics of my C-30 last fall working on bringing in loads for our winter wood supply. Made this run for wood 6x's last year. On the side I sell wood to a few as well. Helps pay for the toys.
Yet with this set-up it works like a Chevy; "like a rock!". Needless to say, this truck works. Mark
