I have a 72 orange and white suburban and unfortunately the spid had been mostly removed. I will get pics into photo bucket and get them on here.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?
Since you didn't post interior or SPID pictures, is there anything left to suggest it is/was a factory plaid Highlander?

What a shame. I bet that was someone's pride and joy once.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?
I found the glove box door for a blue parts suburban I had ages ago. It had a white seat with the blue plaid cloth, but there weren't any other seats in it. I didn't read all the info you posted so I'm not positive if its original to the burb. Here is a pic of the spid.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?
Dark Blue looks great on burbs!
Your parts burb was however the regular Custom Deluxe blue cloth as built. Blue Plaid would have had trim code 542.

I need to show the Burb some love. Seats are still pretty nice. Letting it slowly slip away.....time flies...

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?
Sweet original burb. When I saw this post and the spid post on your longhorn, I noticed you had 2 trucks, both from California. Funny thing, I just drove a truck I bought from NC to CA last summer. Good luck fixing them up!

Clearly it needs a little love but the finished result should look awesome and a lot like this one.

Nice Dark Blue two-tone with Blue paid, such a classic combo.

Reluctantly selling our beloved Suburban. We are the second family to own the truck and we've had it for over ten years. It has about 2000 miles on a completely rebuilt motor done by a professional shop (I have all receipts). It starts, runs, stops perfectly. All lights, locks etc work. Has working front and rear A/C but will need charged. Truck is a daily driver and shows some character. Had a few spots developing in front of the rear tires and rear quarters. Pretty typical for this year. Interior looks great but not perfect. Original Scottish Tweed seats in fair condition. The front could use some attention. We hate selling Tortuga. It has been a member of our family for along time and we've even wrote/recorded a song about her. Original factory 402 big block. New tires, rebuilt carb, new battery, new starter. wood bed is perfect ****** I have just had an expert educate me that this truck is a very rare Highlander Edition only available in 1972***** The interior package and seats were only available in the upgrade package of 1972 and is quite rare. Floorboards /door jams all excellent and solid. Pls call or text with questions.

Looks like every SPID posted on this tread were all built in Flint Michigan. Is that the only plant that produced Suburban's?

Interesting enough, every '72 Spid, in this thread and the Suburban/Panel spid thread, is a Flint truck.
